Hello everyone, I stucked with MathCAD 15. I want to import data from XLS file (geographical coordinates), convert it to some map projection coordinates and finally display on XYplot. I created a function that should create an array for display but there is an error 'This value must be a vector'. This is my first step with MathCAD so an answer could be trivial. Nevertheless, please help me so I could go further. Thank you - Pawel. PS. I attach MCAD file and input file.
How do I create a plot that looks like "steps", based on a table like shown in attached table and graph?
Hi everyone. I'm very new to MathCAD, using Prime 4.0. I was able to figure out solving 2 simultaneous equations using Solve blocks, and now I'd like to take that one step further so I could solve for multiple pairs of input values. That is, I already have a solve block that finds correct values w/ guess values x1 & y1, and would like one that will solve for x1 & y1, x2 & y2, x3 & y3... I'm guessing this would require some sort of matrix magic, but I'm not really sure. Obviously, I could just copy & paste the solve block for each new pair of inputs, but I have to believe there's a more elegant solution. Can anyone provide some advice?
Hello why is it that the find function doesn't work for me here?! please give guidance!
Hello, I'm trying to take the first and second derivative of my data set (frequency vs temperature). I've used the standard method to define a function via cspline- interpolation and take the derivatives. However, from the attached worksheet, it is seen that the plot of the derivatives have peculiar behavior and I'm afraid the result may not be reliable. Could anyone make a suggestion on this issue, please? Thank you in advance, Payman

Hello! Is it, in general, possible to separate a complex value into a real and imaginary parts in Mathcad? If it possible, how can we do so? Lets say that I have a complex root "r=0.2+3i". I want to assign the real value of this root as a=0.2 and imaginary as b=3i. Do you have any suggestions? Best regards, Sergey
I'm trying to solve for f in an equation. All the variables in that equation are previously defined. but I can get the find function to work. this is very confusing. Can somebody let me know what is wrong with my work please? thanks !
I have values for position and values for time. But when I try to plot them I get the error "All evaluations resulted either an error or a complex result". Can someone please help? this is very confusing!
Hello, One of my users is facing an autosave issue in Mathcad 15. Every 10 minutes (as the autosave was set) there's an error prompt with the path only and it's not saying what's wrong with it. User got all the permissions in the mentioned folder. I've tried to change the "default worksheet location" in the Tools>Preferences, but i guess it's not where autosave files get saved as the error appeared with the same path as before. I've seen the registry below in another topic, but it's not the path for autosave files. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MathSoft\Mathcad 14\McadFiles]"LocalWorkingDirectory"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mathsoft\\Mathcad 15\\" What can be the issue? Any ideas how to fix the issue? Or how to change that Autosave directory? [error in the attachment]
Hi Is it possible to overcome this problem wo indexing? Thanks in advanced
Can you show it with Mathcad - the bikeway is parts of catenary!
Just in case that anybody still is interested in Mathcad bugs: This was done in the current release of Mathcad 15. I guess we would see the same bug in Prime. Its likely that the bug will not show up in Mathcad 11 (with Maple as symbolic engine instead of the current old version of muPad).
Welcome! I have problems with my Mathcad 4.0 file, I need really quick help! I saved my project yeasterday and today I saw "The file is not supported". Is it possible to recover any data from that file? I attach that file and log file also.
Hello Community, I am working on a Mathcad Prime 5.0.0 worksheet. My goal is to import data from Excel, and later in my worksheet run data analysis for the found set. I am struggling a bit to emulate the behavior for CSVs where the imported data is limited to non-blank rows and columns (once it finds the empty rows and columns it automatically stops importing). The help indicates a way to command READEXCEL to "stop" on a blank row. The problem is that I cannot get it to work. Maybe the previous emptyfill parameter where you fill blanks with something is preventing the "stop" on blank? I cannot figure out how to make it work, and all of the examples use only the most basic inputs. Any ideas? The screenshot shown below shows that though I try to "stop" on blankrows, it is persisting; I get all 500010 rows even though there are only 180k lines of data. Perhaps the substitute of NaN is the issue? I have also specified "" as the emptyfill and gotten th
After much hair-pulling and manual debugging, I cannot resolve an issue that is breaking a calculation in my for loop. I have imported a dataset that I want to apply various moving average filters to and output a statistical value on the data (mean, stdev, etc...) My issue is that identical arrays are either working or breaking my loop. If I specify a manual vector of points, the calculation works. If I have a for loop to create an array of time for my moving average filter based on number of filters and max filter time (s), and multiply by frequency (Hz), I get what seems to be an identical vector. One (the manual) is working, and one (the loop generated) fails, even though the look identical. Image shown below. Left side, manual "n_filter" enabled and automatically generated "n_filter" disabled. Right side, manual "n_filter" disabled and automatically generated "n_filter" enabled.
Hi there, I'm having problems with mathcad. I got a assignment in which the attached script was given. For some reason it doesn't work though. Any ideas?
I downloaded a free 30-day full-featured trial version of Mathcad Express from the site. After installation and some working time in it, I noticed that the top edge of the working window gradually turns into a wide white line (this happens when mathcad is constantly turned on from the taskbar in the process). After some time, it becomes simply impossible to work, because This white line narrows the workplace very much. What could be the reason and how to fix it?
Hello, I find that the title bar of my MathCAD Prime 4.0 slowly expands into my work space, making the available space to write smaller. It doesn't seem to be something that I can click and drag back to it's normal position. Eventually, I am forced to close, and reopen my worksheet to get the full-sized work space. This seems to be the only way that I know how to deal with it. If anyone has experienced this, or has a solution to the issue, please let me know. I've attached a screenshot of what my worksheet looks like while the problem is present. Much appreciated
Mathcad suddenly started me giving me some extra results in my symbolics. Files that worked fine before suddenly show "keyword_explicit" in the result. The file works fine on other users computers so I expect I need to reinstall Mathcad. But maybe someone has seen a fix for this before. (4.0 attached) Thanks, Simple example:
Hello, I am new to Mathcad. I am using MATHCAD 5.0.0.0. I am trying to define a very simple function described below. Any help will be really appreciated. Say x=2, y=3 if z=4 x=x and y=y else x=y and y=x I tried defining a third variable. But was not able to do it inside if statement. Thanks
Before I whine, I need to preface this by saying that I am not a hater of the chart tool. I have been giving it a try in the past couple of days in order to fully give it a chance. Certain things I like, such as titles, legends, trace line colors for plots, background colors, and some few other stuffs. But these are all esthetics that are primarily relevant to a secretary and not an engineer or a scientist. For an engineer or a scientist, functionality carries priority over esthetics. After trying most of the options, I must say the following: The chart tool is a disappointment for the following reasons:- 1) It handles units terribly. I have no clue why PTC went back to the dividing option rather than keeping the "bracketing" option which was found in the previous versions of Prime. 2) One cannot use defined variables and calculated outputs as chart labels. Sure one can define these parameters in the X and Y inputs but if one minimizes that "definition window" (whi
Good Morning Community, Attached is a copy of Mathcad file for Wind load for gable structure. The function is turned "Red" and I do not know how to trouble shoot the problem. Please see if any one can help. Moses
I am trying to define a piecewise function in Mathcad to move around singularities, but the program breaks down at the singularities even when they are not called. I created a program that evaluates one function if "w" is greater than or equal to "r", and another function if "w" is less than "r". The second function has a singularity if "w" is equal to "r" but theoretically it shouldn't need to evaluate that function in that case, as "w" isn't less than "r". The program still returns an error in that case though. Is there a way to set up the program such that MathCad will not try to evaluate the term in the false if statement Example: function = if w >= r pi/2 if w < r atan(1/(w-r))
I tried to follow advice given in another thread to do this (See file): Mathcad complains about the units of 's', but that's not the problem. I want to substitute i*omega for s. Under Symbolics, Variable > substitute is greyed out. Pressing CTRL-SHFT-. gives a place holder, which disappears, followed by the arrow shown. I tried re-starting Mathcad, but I still get the same problem. Of course, Mathcad says s is undefined, but I suppose it wouldn't need to be defined for the substitution operation.
