Hi,      I need to solve this equation to get an expression for volume fraction, phi (x). For the given constants, phi (x) vs x should look similar to that in figure. Kindly check attachment. I tried to solve it symbolically but it keeps showing an error.   Regards

HI friends, I am looking to get the solution for a Tetha for a quatrics potential from these equations: (Reference: Classical Mechanics by Herbert Goldstein 1980 2nd ed.) I have a potential     V(r) = const / r^4.   Can anyone here help me with a MathCAD 15 Sheet, how to do it? Thanks Walter    

Good night channel friends, I'm formatting a sheet in mathcad prime 5, and the following happened: the equation got bigger than the sheet, I would like to introduce a line break in the equation, but the CTRL + Shift + Enter command does not work. The activation icon (Equation Break is erased all the time, as shown).

Attached are two Mathcad 15 M050 files.  The Test_SUBROUTINE worksheet works; however, Test_FUNCTION worksheet does not work.  I assume it is because a vector cannot have arguments?  I really want to use the Test_Function worksheet as a reference sheet in other programs.  Any help is appreciated. Hello,   Is it possible to define custom units in Prime 5.0 Express?  I have a drop down in Math Formatting and unit is there and not greyed out. However, no matter how I try, I cannot change any variables to the unit format. So I started to think maybe this is not supported in the Express version.     Thanks,

Hi, im new to Mathcad and this forum.    Im doing a project at school about wire straighteners. Im trying to calculate the height to set the straightening bearings to get straight wire at the end of the straightening unit. i figured out the equation to do this but i want to plot the curvature and bending moment of the wire for a distance x. I dont really know how to do this im still in engineering school learning and not that good with Mathcad. I hope some of you could help me, it would really improve my project.    Example:     I know the position of each roll, and i know the equation for the bending moment depending on the total curvature giving to make the wire straight.    Included is a Mathcad file with a short explanation on how the equations are formulated. I have a bigger file with all the details but that will require a lot of translation for me. I also have some literature on wire straighteners if anybody is interested.    Sor

to all   I am doing a sanity check on something and would like to set an integral - see attached mcad 15 file but cannot remember for the life of me how to set up the integral calc (integration variable, etc!) Can anyone help me on this one? Thanks Regards

Anyone having trouble linking a user function with the user library in Prime 3.0? I can't even link the basic examples. I get an error message: External _CreateUserFunction not foundfrom the linker. It's definitely defined in mcaduser.h that I compiled with. It's like it wasn't exported from mcaduser.libAnyone else having this problem?

Attached is a little example of a problem I'm seeing - in simplified format only to demonstrate the issue.  Background - I'm doing a 2D finite difference problem and during setup mathcad slows down an unacceptable amount and I can't see why it should.    I tried it in 5.0 with no change.  On my machine the 'slow' program here takes about 5 seconds, while the 'fast' examples are instantaneous - as expected since there's no real calculation ongoing. I don't see why it should slow down like this.  I suspect it's recalculating the 'node' matrix over and over. Or possibly a bug. Anything I'm doing wrong?     4.0 and pdf attached.  Thanks,    

Hello all,   I'm new to Mathcad, I had the software installed just this morning.  I am having trouble getting my plot to display properly. I played around with my variables and it seems like Mathcad is unable to recognize the variable Cstar (please see the attached file). I tried moving the variable block around and replacing it with single value (in case it was my syntax that was off) but still could not get it to work.    I'd greatly appreciate any help and/or advice on how I should proceed. Thank you in advance! 

Hi,       I am trying to model the sedimentation of spherical colloidal suspensions. For that, I need to solve the differential equation (check image file). I am attaching the mathcad file and the original paper. What I want is to plot volume fraction (phi) as a function of height (x) at a certain time (t) (Something similar to figure 3 in the paper). Hello, I am new to Mathcad,I have been using PTC Mathcad Prime 5 since yesterday. I have a problem when I use solve and assume for this quadratic equation. All the variables have mm as unit. If I assume mm <> 0 then it works. The answer I am looking for is 233.41847464108950079 mm. Ps. If I put = it shows the good answer (my bad, I was too frustrated about the if and else thing to try), but why does it show if and else?  Thank you

Hey all,I need some urgent help.I was working on a school project, opened the file this morning and edited some units only. Saved and closed the laptop. (I do not know if this is related or not but when I closed the laptop, it shut down, when it should just go to sleep). I turned on my laptop back on a few minutes later to continue working,  and am now getting an error saying :I opened the log file and noticed it is corrupt... I am attaching the file below. Is there a way to get around this? I have lots of important work on the document and I cannot afford to start over! Thank you 🙂 

Hi,   I'm trying to make a template that can be used for circuit analysing using Laplace transform. Here, we have a second order RC lowpass filter and I want to use an repetitive input signal. In V2(s) equation, where we have the input voltage I would like to use the f(s) input function or even better g(s) repetitive input function. In the file attached you can see that I have 3 plots: one with input voltage as a constant, where it works and the plot is ok, and another two using f(s) and g(s), where it returns this error "Replace complex values and NaNs by real numbers". What can be improved in order to use the repetitive s domain function?   Mathcad using is Prime 4 and you cand find attached a .pdf too.   Thanks.  

Hello,   I have the attached mathcad with the inputs: "a", "b" and "Table". "a" should be looking in the first row of "Table" to find a match, vector "b" should be looking in the first column of "Table" to find a match for each value of the vector. The final result should return the result from the intersection of the column and line previously identified to get the result from "Table".    Thank you, Otilia

‌Frequently, my curor position will not accept typing a variable name.  The cursor location is not close to another region.  The location will accept starting new text if I start the text with quotation marks, ".  I have to keep moving the cursor around randomly to get Mathcad 15 to accept the variable name.  I can paste a variable name at the location; I just cannot start typing at the location. I run Mathcad 15 on a PC with Windows 7 Profesional with plenty of memory.  This problem is so frequent that it makes using Mathcad 15 very frustrating.  I only upgraded to 15 because my old Mathcad 6 plus would not install on Windows 7 without running in a virtual XP mode.I would just go back to 6 plus running in XP mode, but when I eventually have to upgrade to Windows 10 or beyond, I doubt that running in XP mode will be available.I did not attach a Mathcad file because I did not think the problem could be repeated on another system.  If attaching a file w

Hello! I am new to the PTC forums, but I had a question regarding how to format a particular differential equation into Mathcad Prime. My equation is: ads=integral(v) dv Below is a screenshot of what I have so far, but it is using my guess value as the solution, when the actual solution for Vo is 15.5 ft/s. Acceleration, a, is given to be constant at 12 ft/s^2, initial displacement, So, is given to be 0 ft, final displacement, Sf, is given to be 140 ft, final velocity, Vf, is 60 ft/s. That leaves initial velocity, Vo. The basic form of the differential equation I am employing goes a*ds=integral (v) dv where ds is the differential for displacement and dv for velocity. Any help regarding this formatting would be greatly appreciated guys! Thanks!      

Hi all,   For the attached sheet, I am trying to calculate the mid-point of each layer using an if statement. The values are entered using an Excel table. For the first layer, the mid-point is simply H0/2 (so 0.9 m). For the second layer, the mid-point is the previous mid-point, plus the average of the previous and current points (so, 0.9 m + (1.8+1.6)/2 =  2.6 m). For some reason however, the simple IF code I am trying to use doesn't seem to work. I am not very familiar with programming in Mathcad, so any help would be appreciated.Thanks!-Fikret

We have a floating license set up on our server and in the LMTools program the status says 1 license availible.There has been a rule added to the firewall on the server to open port 7788.When configuring the client, I've tried using both the server name and the server IP address to no avail.Whe also have an Autodesk Simulation license issued on another instance of LMTools on the same server. Would this be causing an issue?What else might I try?

Hello All,I am struggling to get MathCad 15 up and running. The problem started when I had our purchasing agent purchase the software for me (all emails went to him).I have downloaded the software and installed it on my computer and registered on the PTC site. I received 2 emails containing flex/LS license filesEmail one - lm_xxxx.txt - necessary for license borrowing.Email two - lm_xxxx_standard.txt - required for older Pro/ENGINEER releases.I don't know what to do with these files and the links given in the email containing the instructions are not available to me.I have sent emails and attempted to contact tech support and also the MathCad sales group. The sales group refers me to Tech Support who do not answer my emails and cannot be contacted by phone. It has been almost 4 weeks since I purchased the software.
