I have a Prime 7.0 worksheet with two matrices (of immediate interest). They are w [1x3] and P [3x2].I am trying to manipulate and ensure that they have the same number of rows. And trying to do it with a nested loop. BUT the inner loop seems to work once and then returns the matrix. The outer loop never increments to the next step. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but can't see it.If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. Thanks! FOR i: 1 TO rows(P)---> FOR j: 1 TO rows(w)---> ---> IF (criteria)---> ---> ---> STACK (new row to w)---> ---> ---> GOTO / SKIPTO next i
How to resolve this error
Dear Mathcad TEAM,I recently wanted to install the license server. However, the license server keeps telling me, that there are no issues to server in my license file. The corresponding support Article - CS109302 is not helpful. Please find an extract of the license file below.---- Begin License file extract ----DAEMON ptc_d "C:\Program Files\PTC\InService_License_Server_Windows\PTCEswlm\ptc_e\ptc_e.exe"#################### FLOATING Option ###################### Serviceable = Mathcad Extensions# Feature Name = 254# Feature Version = 26.0# Number of Copies = 250# Expiration Date = 30-oct-2024# Module = Mathcad Image ProcessingINCREMENT 254 ptc_d 26.0 30-oct-2024 250 \xxxxxxxx VENDOR_STRING="VSVER=2.0 LO=()" \SUPERSEDE ISSUER=PTC ISSUED=08-nov-2023 \NOTICE="xxxxxxxx_(M), xxxxxxxx" SIGN2="0C26 \xxxxxxxx"#################### FLOATING Option #####################---- End License file extract ----Unlike in the support article, the line starting with increment is not commented and should be f
I feel very negative about PTC and their hyper-convoluted licensing scheme. I have an extremely simple task. Transfer an existing license to a new computer. Please don't send me that 43 page PDF describing every possible licensing scenario for every single product made by PTC. That just doesn't help. At this time I've been directed to this link - which makes absolutely no sense to me https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS20911?_gl=1*lmu7tu*_ga*MTkwNDQxNTgyOC4xNzAzMDM0MDA4*_ga_1QBT6P6HR1*MTcwMzM1MTg3NS4yLjEuMTcwMzM1MTkzMy4yLjAuMA.. In the very first step I'm to this weird website where I need to enter the Sales Order Number (SON), Host ID / Traid, Asset Tag, Service Contract Number (SCN), Subscription Number, and/or Product Group. However, I've been entering my information into these fields and - really - nothing happens. And, I don't see what this has to do with transferring a license. https://support.ptc.c
I'm hoping I'm missing a simple way of doing this...(MathCAD Prime 7.0.0.0) Thanks
I am using Mathcad Release 15.0 and DatecodeunknownTests for Mathcad: KO=> Mathcad v15 does not work, the server is reacheable (log trace) but the license is not present in the license file. It works with Prime versions.
Hello, For a project, I would like to store the result of the following expression : in another value (called prev for this example). But, I would like to update it manually, even if my parameters change. That way, I would be able to compare 2 curves with different parameters on the same graph in the same sheet. Can someone help me ? Grégory
When I increase the number of Iteration on page 5, ex. 250 to 2500 the program crashes, instead of giving an error message and stopping.
Is temperature units computable with pressure within equation in Prime?
I am wondering if anyone knows a way to make a Bode plot that shows a y-axis on the left for db (amplitude) and a scale on the right for phase. The Plot function does not support it, but I thought perhaps the "chart" function does since it does allow a second y axis scale on the right. But as I understand it, this is not quite the case. In the "chart" function it seems that the scale on the right is only a replica of the one on the left. This function was very nicely supported in Mathcad 15. Is there a way to do it in Prime 9? Much appreciation for any thoughts/help!
I have a valid license but I never got an email with a "product code", so I can't even request support.I have two emails, neither has a "customer number".My end goal is to view this page https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/cs306408 . I just purchased a license.
Following the solution to the differential equation for the deflection curve of a beam on an elastic foundation, am trying to get the bending moment M and shearing force V based on the 2nd- and 3rd-order derivatives (using MathCad prime 9).I can come up with values based on the derivative expression BUT am unable to assign the results to matrix variables M and V for plotting the results to show variation along the length of the beam.I tried to define matrices with matching size, BUT it won't evaluate the differential equation. I alternatively tried for loop, BUT the same issue persists. The v counter does not increment to allow calculation of the M variable. Should I be using the ODE solvers for this? Am I missing something? Can't seem to figure it out.Thank you for the help.
Hello, I have been using mathcad for years as a basic user, but do not have much experience using it for matrix operations or programming. I am trying to create a worksheet that will allow me to feed in data in to several 3x1 matrices and then compare values of the elements of each matrix and then create a new matrix of only the largest values. However, the resulting output of what I have at the moment is a scaler. How do I instead get a vector result? Please note that I am using Mathcad 15 (and not Mathcad Prime). Thanks!
Hello everyone I have been trying to study the dynamic response of a vertical cylindric pile partly submerged in the sea and resting on the seabed, using Mathcad Prime 8.0. I have implemented the 1D dynamic beam equation as described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euler%E2%80%93Bernoulli_beam_theory The pile is free at the top, held laterally in place at height H and simply supported at the base (with a lateral spring). I have defined the following boundary conditions. w and v are deflection and curvature. The units look correct to me. Besides, making the sheet unitless does not solve the problem.Could anyone point me towards the solution or shed more light on what is meant by "inconsistent conditions" ? I have attached the spreadsheet and datafile for some trials. One issue I see with the file is that I(x) and q(x) have discontinuities so Mathcad may have difficulties evaluating I''(x) over the complete interval. Best regards François
Hi,I use the latest Mathcad version on a virtual machine (parallel) on my Mac Book Pro M1. The program runs smoothly so far and works excellently.Unfortunately, when I insert images using various options, despite saving them, when I reopen the document they are only displayed as a "Search images.." button.Does anyone here have an idea?Best regardsFinn
This month’s challenge ties into the Mathcad for Mechanical Engineers Webinar. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a worksheet that calculates the stresses on a key in a keyway for a crankshaft and flywheel. The Scenario A key is a mechanical component used to transfer power between a rotating shaft and a machine component (in the image below, a flywheel). The torque is 150 Newton-meters. The shaft diameter where the flywheel is attached has a diameter of 50mm. The key length is 50mm with a breadth (width) of 12.5 mm and total height of 10 mm. The size of the chamfers on the key is 1 mm, but you can ignore them for the stress calculations if you wish. The Challenge Your task is to calculate the following: Calculate the torque that can be transmitted by the reduced shaft diameter (the diameter not including the keyway). Calculate the shear stress and compressive stress on the key and shaft. (Optional) Using the technique presented by Dr. H
I'm trying to write a short function in Prime 7.0 that will loop through data and populate multiple matrices and then stack them.Even though the matrices are the same size, I am getting a "The dimensions of these arguments do not match." error when using the stack function.I tried pulling sample matrices out of the loop and stacking them. That worked, as expected. Can you not use the stack function in a loop? Or am I missing something else? Thanks!
Since you are only able to have your licensed account on one account unless they're connected to the same network and with a different subscription, is there a way for me to inactivate the license on one device and activate the subscription on another? Right now the account is on my desktop but I need it on my laptop.
I was looking at the sample worksheet (PDF) posted on the PTC website and I created a (supposed to be) matching MathCAD Prime 7.0 worksheet. https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad/Building-Structural-Design-Single-Span-Beams-Shear-and-Moment/td-p/450598 Almost everything matches the sample PDF results...the Shear values, shear graph, and maximum Moment. BUT the moment function and graph points are way off. I've skimmed over everything multiple times and I can't see any typos or errors. Can anyone see where the error is? Thanks!
This is sort of a follow-up question to this thread where I was recreating the calculations of the ptc sample: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad/Simple-beam-analysis-moment-equation/m-p/920727#M209874 https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad/Building-Structural-Design-Single-Span-Beams-Shear-and-Moment/td-p/450598 Once I got that working, I defined two functions that process the spread-sheet wide variables, which was working "properly" for me: a = [matrix] w = [matrix] p = [matrix] ML = number MR = numberWhen I tried to move all arguments into the function definitions and I am getting error: "This value must be an integer." M(x,a,w,p,ML,MR) and V(x,a,w,p,ML,MR) I'm having trouble figuring out what is causing this. Can anyone point out what I am missing? Thanks!
We are trying to convert Mathcad 15 files to Mathcad Prime 9.0. When we complete the conversion we have lost some functionality with the files, such as with control objects (radio button, check boxes, drop down menu). This portion of the files are removed during the conversion. Is there a way to convert these functions or can we purchase Mathcad 15?
Hi, I have the error 'This operation can only be performed on an array' as on the sheet attached (simplified version of calc sheet). What is the work around? The last part with the error would be part of a larger function, but acts in the same way. Kind regards,Dan
I’ve been used to work with Mathcad prime 4 and 5. In those versions I could define a variable based on the output from the solve function simply by “:=” between the variable and the equation. That way I could use the output in subsequent calculations. I now have Mathcad prime 8 and this doesn’t work anymore. I can see there has been a change to “The new symbolic engine” in the versions in between. My question is how to define a variable based on the output from the solve function with the new symbolic engine? I’ve added screen shots of an example of the output in Mathcad prime 5 and 8. Chapter 1: Analysis of Beams, Part 3 Description: This application computes the reactions and the maximum bending moment, and plots the shear and bending moment for a single span beam, with or without end moments, loaded with any practical number of uniformly distributed and concentrated loads. The user must divide the beam into segments with each segment supporting a single uniformly distributed load over its length and/or a concentrated load at the right end of each segment. Next: Chapter 2, Part 1Previous: Chapter 1, Part 2
I would like to make a suggestion for Mathcad Prime 10! Not sure if it would work but I would like it to perform the following. When typing in an equation I would like to be able to just click on a previous variable definition and have it automatically copied into the placeholder of the equation I am typing. Often I use long variable names, retyping them is prone to error and takes too long. My normal course of action is to go out of the equation, highlight the variable name from a previous section, go back to the equation and then paste into the placeholder. This is better than retyping but very clunky, if I could just point and click...ahhh, MathCad nirvana!! Thanks PS perhaps someone knows a better way already?
