Mathcad

Mathcad Prime 7 symbolic solve block fails to use a solved variable as argument to built-in function. It's common to need solve for one or more variables and then express some function of one or more variables.  E.g., two angles are solved symbolically then the sine of the sum of the two angles is sought. MC Prime gives silly result with, apparently, any built-in function.  This is the case whether a solve variable is equated to a symbolic or a constant. I attach an illustration using the simplest thing I can imagine:  a solve variable is equated to something (a symbolic value or a constant), then a variable is equated to a function of the first solve variable. I offer four simple solves, each solving for an explicitly written function of the stated value and also a solve for the function of the first solve variable as the argument.  Is this inherent in MC Prime - that it can't use solve variables in a function?  

Hi everyone Does anyone know how to use the search bar to find a variable including sub script? I experience the following: Search for variable excluding subscript - worksSearch for text in subscript - worksSearch for text in variable including subscript (i.e. copy math and paste into search bar) - does not workBesides, it also does not seem to search in collapsed areas, or have I overlooked something? Thanks.

Hi everyoneMathcad Prime 8's page breaks apparently don't work properly with multi-page areas. I have two areas where the first area is two pages long. If I add a page break after the first area, the third area appears correctly on page 3. However, if I collapse the first area, the third area still appears on page 3, but should have appeared on page 2. The work-around appears to be to add an element (e.g. a text region with a space) after the first area and before the page break - then collapsing/expanding areas don't mess up the page break. Has anyone seen this before?

I thought I was making an innocuous change in a program, but it causes the For loop (or maybe the Solve block call) to fail. I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is. Worksheet is attached - program is shown at the bottom. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Folks, I'm writing out an example for my students using Prime 7.  I'm hoping to avoid having to explain the goofy plotting functions and all their limitations.  Has Prime 8 moved to a single plot function like V15? Fortunately, it looks like there is a V15 site license available here.  That's the backup plan. Thanks, Mark

Hi Guys, I'm doing assignment related to passenger transit probability which indicates the probability that a passenger chooses to travel from floor ''i'' to the floor ''j''. This is only 4 floor building.''P_arr'' is an arrival rate on each floor and ''U'' is a dedicated population on each floor. This is a formula which I have to use. And this is my initial matrix from Word for calculation's Does anyone know how to create a matrix 4x4 like below from vector ''U'' and vector ''P_arr"?     This is actual case study from one of journals and there are results for this if this helps a bit I would be very grateful for helpGreg

Hello, I am working on a simply supported beam calculator. I have everything up and working but I am having trouble when it comes to determining the maximum of the displacement and it's corresponding x value.  In the collapsible area under the loads you can see I have the various displacement equations and to find the total displacement I sum them up. I then need to find where this value is a maximum but I don't know how to do it other than reading it off the graph.  Is there a more elegant way to determine the maximum so I can define a function for maximum displacement and corresponding x-location. I have attached the sheet for reference. Thanks,Callum 

I want to frame a function to plot for Shear force 

Is it possible for me to mark a variable with a bar on top (see picture below) to indicate it’s a complex number? This is how I normally do it in WordMat:I understand that the bar is used for conjugation in Mathcad but it is how we are taught a complex numbers variable is displayed.

I want to plot the adiabatic flame temperature of a mixture, given the excess air present but I don't know how to tell/write the program to find the value given the excess air. I'm using Coolprop's fluid properties libraries to get the enthalpy of the mixture and mathcad prime 7.
