In the thirty-day trial. Hoping this "bug" (see attached .pdf) turns out to be my mistake, because if not, PTC will have lost a customer.
I have an old file that colleagues developed and they created variables like this: Rop%. I'm trying to re-create and improve some plots, which use this variable, among other similar definitions. When I retype the variable name, Mathcad tells me the variable is invalid; undefined. For the life of me, I can't figure out why. But it looks like the percent signs (%) have different fonts. So it looks like there's something different about them, but I can't replicate it. Please see attached.
Does anyone know how to reduce the file size of a MCP sheet or other ways to speed up processing? I am working on a big calculation package that reads in Excel data (~30000x15) and manipulates it various times (loads of filtering, sorting, assigning submatrices, etc.) that is going on 20-30 pages. Now the file size is almost 18mb and the sheet is moving very slow and takes a while to save. TOL and CTOL are set to defaults, and I am trying the multithreading option. Only working on one sheet at a time. Are there any methods to speed things up? Maybe purge past data once a step has been made? I don't have much experience with the clear() function, but could this be of use here? Open for suggestions. Thanks!MCP 8.0, Windows 10 Pro.
Hello, I need to have a conversation with support, licensing for ths product seems to be a joke and I am having issues. Brand new customer, just purchased the software. no phone numbers for support is such a pain.
Hi! I surprisingly found that Mathcad calculates this simple expression wrong: Both results must be the same. The second result is the correct one.It gets even worse in this case: It seems that Mathcad accumulates floating point errors in sums, which can be easily avoided (or greatly reduced) by applying a proper summation algorithm. It costs nothing to implement, so why not do it?
I want to construct a program in such a manner that both the variables are unknown and whole number a+b=5a is a whole numberb is a whole numberb>aCould you please help?
HiI have plotted the results from two vectors. The graph resembles the shape of a half circle and I would like to find a function that fits the data so intersection points can be determined for other functions. I have tried many different curve-fitting tools but can't find a proper one that works. I'm thankful for any help!
Can I extract the values in excel component from graph plotted? Even the vector does not get correctly assigned to the function
Hello to everybody, after the last automatic Windows 11 update, when I try to make a 3D plot, the following error message appears (in Italian) "Eccezione generata dalla destinazione della chiamata", which in English, more or less, corresponds to "Exception generated by call destination".Probably, the Windows update has modified some files used by Mathcad 15 for creating 3D plots. Please, can someone help me to recover that Mathcad 15 feature?Thank you very much,Sarah
Occasionally, I'll insert a Visio object into MathCAD Prime (I'm using version 8) using copy/past (ctrl-c & ctrl-v). This works and it's pretty much fine for most things - but I did notice the images look a tad fuzzy. Is there anyway to improve upon this? It seems that copy/past from Visio to MathCAD Prime inserts an image into Prime - that is, the copied object is converted to an image upon pasting into Prime. Is that correct? If so, is there a way to increase the image resolution? I poked around attempting to insert an OLE object using Input/Output tab > Insert Object. Maybe I don't know the best way to insert an OLE object - as my initial attempts were very sub-optimal - and difficult to work with compared to the simple action of copying and pasting objects. Any ideas?
In earlier versions of Mathcad Prime, I could write the following expression:Simply put, I could define a variable symbolically and display the answer. With the changes to the symbolic engine on Primate, this can no longer be done:This feature was great because I often used Mathcad during Engineering lectures to work examples problems. My work around is:The first properly should use the symbolic equal to "=" and not the mathematical definition ":=" but it still works. Anyone have any better suggestions or work arounds? Bob
Hi! I want Mathcad to give me the derivative of a function symbolically, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions? Using Mathcad Prime 7

A friendly hello to all,In the attached file from MC14 there are two solution blocks at the end for solving differential equations. So far I had to enter the same initial values in each solution block. Can these initial values be entered only once somewhere before for both solution blocks?Kind regards, Alfred Flasshaar
I am trying to get a speed unit (m/sec) into a combo box (prime 8.0.0.0), but this somehow does not work. I'm now using a work around first defining mps as m/sec then putting mps in the combo box. Same thing for accelerations (m/sec^2) Is prime still this much troubled by unit issues or is it just me having trouble coming from MC15. It appears to me such work arounds should have been implemented out of sight to the user by now. Celebrating 12 yrs of PRIME (or mostly avoiding it for me to be just fair)
I have an active license, but when i complete the install, my ptc desktop shows a "created with ptc mathcad express:" watermark.. Can you point me to the full installer or is there something i am missing with my install or my current license?
to all, A question regarding the Cholesky LDL decomposition. given a matrix A one can have A=LDL* where L* is the transpose of L using the mathcad 15 cholesky(A), how does one code mathcad to get D? L = cholesky(A) Thanks in advance Josh
New features for consideration:
Hello, How would you compare Mathcad with following software? What would be the advantages of using Mathcad (Prime - because it was chosen to continue with MC Prime further) compared to the following software: Standard Maple, Maple Flow, Wolfram Mathematica or Matlab? What would be the disadvantages of using Mathcad (Prime) compared to the following software: Standard Maple, Maple Flow, Wolfram Mathematica and Matlab? Why do you prefer Mathcad (Prime) instead of the other software: Standard Maple, Maple Flow, Wolfram Mathematica or Matlab? Or do you use the other software listed above besides Mathcad (Prime)? Why? Is it really better to use Mathcad (Prime) compared to the other software above, at least from the point of view of say the following fields: Engineering/Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Signal Processing, Calculus, Matrices, Algorithm (convergence, accuracy, precision), working with units, programming? Is it worth messing aro
Hi, can someone help me by converting these old version of file (05 files) so I can open it in Mathcad Prime? My option to convert the file is also grayed out. thanks!!
Hello, How would one set limits for the variable in the solve command. In the example below, I know that k has to be between certain values. Thanks,
Does the mathcad subscription license (Prime8.0) support version 15? I can run Prime 8.0, but when I run version 15, I get a license error (-2, 15, 8, etc).
This month’s challenge is on black holes! Create a worksheet that: Calculates the event horizon (Schwarzschild radius), last photon orbit, last stable particle orbit, and temperature if the Sun, Moon, and planets of our solar system were to become black holes. (You can choose whether to include Pluto.) Uses the Chart Component to depict the event horizon and temperature as a function of mass up to the size of UY Scuti, the largest known star in the Milky Way galaxy (which may become a black hole “soon” on a cosmic timescale). Image courtesy of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center / Jeremy Schnittman used under CC BY-SA 4.0. Considerations: How do you provide the inputs? Matrix, table, combo box input control, or other? When creating the Chart Component, does it make sense to use a log scale anywhere? The equations can be found here (hint: most are on page 36). Documentation (text blocks, text boxes, and images) for this challenge is critical! The math is actually not that
Hi allPlease, see the attchd.file.There is a graph where I would like to represent parameters x and y related to z.I have no idea how to define the x and y axis.Does anybody have an idea how to do that? Thx
