Hello Everyone! If your organization uses Windchill for Change Management - please consider taking this very short (2 min) survey to help us gather some data. Link to Survey Thank you! Nick Samardzija, PLM Product Management
This is a screen grab from the Part Classification facet. I use an identifier of no significance when defining the nodes but the display name is meaningful. Odd that I am seeing a mix of sometimes display name and sometimes internal node name (node###). What gives? Did it just get tired and give up? Windchill 11.1 M020.
Hi. Can anybody advise how I can become trained to use the Windchill Bulk Migrator? Or is this just a tool that is used by PTC/PTC Partner consultants?
Customer asks:Does Windchill support the Cache Vault on local EBS gp3 storage? This vault processes high‑frequency read/write operations during uploads, and using S3 directly can lead to increased check‑in wait times. Windchill version: 12.1.2.6
Hi Community,I’m currently experimenting with Options & Variants to see if it could fit our company’s workflow. For testing, I’m using this setup: one Configuration End Item with a single Configuration Child underneath. So far, I’ve been able to successfully propagate parameters that are linked to option choices down to the child Configurable Articles. What I can’t figure out is how to propagate the value of a regular input parameter (for example, a length) from the parent configuration down to its configuration children. The idea is that the top-level configuration would receive one input length, and multiple configurable children would each calculate their own required length based on that value.I would then also like to use this new length in the Variant name. However, I haven’t found a way to pass that parent input parameter to the children.Has anyone done this before, or can explain the correct approach?I'm using Windchill 12.1.2.4Best regardsJustin
Version: Windchill 13.1.2 Use Case: Windchill installationDescription: Hi, hopefully a quick answer to this one. I can't find the version of Amazon Corretto JDK I should install as pre-requisite to Windchill v13.1.2 on RHEL 8.10. What version of corretto should it be? Where can I find that referenced in the PTC documentation?
Version: Windchill 12.1 Use Case: I am trying to create a report that will tell me which EPMdocuments have been created or changed in the commonspace between a given date and today. I am only interested in the latest version and only standalone models and generics (no instances).Description: I have created a report that indicates all EPMdocuments last modified in the given date range.BUT the main problem is that it isn't limited to just the objects in the commonspace. It includes workspace object. It lists objects that a user has created and uploaded in a workspace (but not checked in yet) and existing objects that have been modified and uploaded in a workspace (but not checked in yet). There are fields in the EPMdocument that would seem to allow some filtering of this, but they don't seem to be accurate, at least at the level of the last modification. There must be some way to report only on the commonspace changes, but I'm not seeing how to do it. I thought this would be pre

Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: I am in the process of setting up the config of a new Windchill environment. After doing this I will need to perform: 1. A migration of content from one Windchill instance into another of the same version. The content being brought across will be in the form of two different object types - a soft type change request and a soft type document. We would like to bring across a full history of each of these objects and include links within the objects to the document objects that they relate to. 2. A migration of content from a non-PTC application into a Windchill instance. We are likely to receive the export of the content in the form of a text file which I am hoping to use to feed a tool that will perform the import. I would like to be able to perform an import which will allow me to build an iteration history of Windchill objects based on the import. The objects I would like to create during the import will be soft type change tasks, change notices,
Question related to this old post I was able to load only Change Requests using OOTB , Other Change Objects gets me an error for loader method. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Just wanted to see if anyone has some good reasons to not use a Problem Report (PR)? The why is about identifying a problem (potential or existing) or enhancement. PR's can be directly acted on (start a CR) or staged for the next change to the item. It is a way to have a technical review before moving to the CR. They can be a proactive feed and not a reactive feed ( NCMR, Deviation, Complaint, Line down, audit).
I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 13.0 and Datecode with CPS 13.0.2.4As part of a customer project involving the use of CREO version 10, we need to create a new ‘product’ in Windchill in order to have a defined data storage area dedicated to associated objects. Here are the errors I encounteredError message when creating a product via the orgadmin account and following the steps described in PTC support:We are stuck at step 1: ‘Click the New Product icon in the Products table.’ The following message appears:"You do not have permission to create this object.Contact your system administrator."

I have developed this script further in an attempt to also add "Resulting Objects" (see below). When I add this script into the request body, the interface reports no issues and it seems as though the call runs successfully. When I navigate to the "Changes" section of Windchill, I can see that the change notice was created along with the change task and affected object. However,

Version: Windchill 13.1 Use Case: Implement Windchill with Single Sign-On using **Google Workspace** as the primary Identity Provider to enable secure, centralized user authentication.Description: 1. Does Windchill support Google Workspace as a SAML 2.0 IdP directly?2. Are there any known limitations or compatibility issues?3. What Windchill version/modules support this configuration?4. What attributes are required from Google IdP (email, name, groups, etc.)?5. Can Windchill handle Just-In-Time (JIT) user provisioning from Google, or must users be pre-created?6. Is there a fallback authentication method if Google SSO is unavailable?7. Any additional components or licensing required for this setup?
Hello, My company has two IDP vendors. Azure Entra ID, and Okta. When using Shibboleth, it only allows you to specify one Service Provider. I know Shibboleth has an add-on package that will let you specify more than one SP, but its complete customization and I see on Google searches that its not a great solution (not supported, completely on your own for troubleshooting) I'd like to know what people have done for a SAML SSO Broker in the middle between the IdPs and Windchill. Meaning when the user tries to login into Windchill, they get a prompt asking them which IDP they wish to authenticate against from the Broker, and the Broker will route the session to the IDP for Authentication, with the Broker sending the session back to Shibboleth as Authorized. Ping Federate has this capability, but is $$$$Ockta does not have this capability.Azure has this capability in Entra B2B, but would be a massive effort to implement as a NEW IDP v
We are looking into implementing SSO for our customer.Initially we wanted to go with the simpler implementation using Shibboleth As SP and Microsoft Entra as IP. What other solutions would there be with and would be the complexity level of their implementation?
I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 13.0 and Datecode with CPS 13.0.1.2Windchill application restart is particularly slow, taking about 500 seconds. Which aspects should be optimized to improve this?
Anyone created an integration between Windchill and #slack or another team chat solution? I am looking for a way to get old-skool Windchill email messages for Change Objects sent via #slack instead of email. Not a full product integration, just a way to route the email communications via #slack instead of email. Some people do not look at email any more and there has to be a better way to let people know they have a pending or outstanding task in Windchill without authenticating to the server and checking the Task table on the Windchill Home page.

Version: Windchill 13.1 Use Case: Windchill 13.1.2.0—Intermittent UI Unresponsive / Freezing After UpgradeDescription: Hello everyone,We recently upgraded our Windchill system from WC 12.0.2 to WC 13.1.2.0. Since the upgrade, we have experienced intermittent UI unresponsiveness/freezing issues. While working in Windchill, the UI occasionally becomes unresponsive. The browser shows “Page is not responding”.After a few minutes, the UI resumes and returns to normal on its own.In some cases, the UI remains unresponsive and we need to restart Windchill services as a temporary workaroundOccurs on both Chrome and Edge (latest supported versions).Happens for multiple users, not limited to a single client machine.Steps We’ve Tried:Cleared browser cache / tried Incognito modeHas anyone else experienced intermittent UI freezing issues after upgrading to WC 13.1.2.0?Are there any known SPR/CPS fixes related to UI responsiveness? What additional troubleshooting steps or configurations should we c
Many Windchill users out there are painfully aware of local workspace cache corruptions. Those who have experienced this problem know that you can contact PTC and they will provide a list containing the names of the local cache files and their equivalent Pro/E file names. You then have to manually rename all of the files using the provided list. Having dealt with this in the past and based on information obtained from logged calls to PTC (and as others have mentioned here) I learned that the Pro/E file name can be found in the cache file, usually (but not always) in the file header. After dealing with workspace cache corruptions many times I decided to see if I could automate this process.Earlier this year, while between jobs, I began to develop what I am calling WC_FileRecovery. It is a Windows application that will open cache files, attempt to determine the original Pro/ENGINEER file name and, if found, rename the cache file to that name. This effort has been done completely on my ow
