Version: Windchill 12.0 Use Case: In some cases, we need to add a model in an assembly just for reference or space claim reasons and we do not want the WTPart associated to that reference model to show up in the Windchill WTPart structure and therefore end up to ERP BOM.Description: What is the recommended/best practice for excluding items from WTPart structure?I thought that the preference "Part Structure Override Attribute Name" would be the way to do this, as the description for that preference says that it "Identifies a boolean soft attribute name that determines if the CAD document participates in build. This soft attribute can be on: iteration, master, member link, model item, or model item link. This soft attribute also determines whether to autoassociate the model to a part." So I created a reusable boolean attribute, added it as a global attribute to the "CAD Document Uses Link" type and inserted the internal name of that attribute to the preference. Then I crea
Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: For a change status monitoring system based on SQL reports against the oracle source tables, we want to accommodate a specific department's practice of tracking in-progress efforts by saving and updating comments on open tasks.Description: As https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS153902 makes clear, WFVOTINGEVENTAUDIT stores user comments for completed workitems, but it is not populated before they're complete. However, users can enter comments on a task and save it without completing it, and there is no alternate source mentioned in this article for comments on running tasks. I have a complete change task tracking setup already built, and pulling comments on completed tasks is no problem. I just can't figure out where the comments are if they're saved on a task with no entry in the voting event audit table. My efforts to trace known comment strings in the source tables have come up empty, but our database has some grant i

Hi, I have installed Windchill with ERP connector. I have loaded a demo data while installing Windchill. There are OOTB distribution targets available on Windchill. I have created a part, assigned Distribution Target of Oracle type, then navigate to Action > Send to Distribution Target. I can see the message that Publication started, however there is no ESI Response file generated. I can see below log in BGMS. ] tasks.com.ptc.windchill.esi.export.ExportToJMSQueue - Error while executing the Create-Object webject. Hi, I am new to MPMLink, so this might be something basic. My requirement is to add some custom types for the BOM Type in the drop down menu (which by default has the values Costing, Production & Testing). This is while creating a new Downstream branch from the Manufacturing Associative Part Structure Browser. The BOM Type is not an object I believe, could not find anything so far. Please help or any clues how to proceed further would be great. Thanks
Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: I have a requirement to provide information to users which provide details of when common attributes were modified. For example, if the number of a part with significant development history needed to be changed, how can I provide visibility of the details of the change to the user in the GUI? For example, when the change was made, who made the change, what the number was changed to, what it was before etc...Description: Without this ability, users are not able to obtain full traceability of how a part has developed which is required for legislative compliance.
Version: Windchill 12.1 Use Case: I need to traverse the folder structure in a Windchill Library via the REST API'sDescription: I see there are a few relevant API's. "/v6/DataAdmin/Containers('"+containerId+"')/Folders" provides us with a way to get the root folder, which I believe is pretty much always "/Default", but how do I get the list of folders in that folder, to recursively traverse the folder structure?I see there is "/v6/DataAdmin/Containers('"+containerId+"')/Folders('"+folderId+"')" but that only gives me the information about the folder I already have the ID for and does not tell me what subfolders exist in that folder.
Version: Windchill 12.1 Use Case: how to identify the type of Change Notice being created in the Implementation Plan Screen before the CN is actually created?Description: Is there a way to identify which type of ECN is selected on window 1(set Attributes) and see that on window 3 (Define Implementation Plan) or in the window below

Version: Windchill 13.1 Use Case: An identified administrative correction is needed (non form/fit/function) within the business confines of what is allowable. System needs to all an iteration of an object at its current end state. Description: What are other using for this situation? I have seen a few ways to do this from using a CR or a Peer Review or just a workflow on a document. In short, what I am looking at is a simple process with a few system checks at the start to make sure the proposed admin change is within the company business rules. We have the workflow iterate the object and then when it moves forward we flip the lifecycle to a Single State lifecycle. That has an ad hoc permission for the assignee to modify at that state. At that step we add a comment to be displayed in the history table of the object. Once the task is completed we flap back to the Lifecycle called on the OIR and set the state back to the same state it was submitted. What we want to avoid is

Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: I have several global attributes contained under object types which have been linked to reusable attributes. However, the basis for selecting which reusable attribute should be linked to the attributes of the object has been solely down to the data type of the reusable attribute and if it aligns with the data type of the attribute I want to associate with my object type.Description: Is this bad practice and should I have more control of my understanding of where I have used my reusable attributes? For example, I could have three reusable attributes called "Material", "Manufacturing Process" and "Product Type" which are linked to the global attributes called "Material", "Manufacturing Process" and "Product Type" in an object type called "Object A". These reusable attributes could be contained in an attribute organizer folder called "Object A Attributes" to make it clear where they are used and to which attributes they are associated to. I've gone done a serious rabbit hole but failing to see my error. I am assuming it must be me. I have two instances and both experience same behavior. I can start and stop SOLR normally as my non-root user. But when I configure my solr.service (which is identical to my previous installs), it fails to see that solr is running, exits and stops the process. I can verify that SOLR does indeed start but the part of the solr script (called from Index_Search_Server.sh) where it checks that SOLR is running, I think is not detecting it. It times out after 180 seconds and stops. Here is what I observed: Confirmed that SOLR starts from java process, PID file and logs. Noticed "lsof -v" running while it was waiting for SOLR to start and consuming high CPU. Disappears when it bails after the time out. I identified the part of the solr script where it tries to verify SOLR is running. (rabbit hole). I can see that it checks the lsof version (where I see "lsof -v", and then ru
