I need to do the upgrade from Oracle 12cR1 on a Windows Server 2012 to Oracle 1cR2. This is in preparation for doing a Windchill upgrade from 11.0 M030 to 11.1 M020. After I have Windchill 11.2 running on Windows Server 2012, I will rehost it to WIndows 2016. My first step is to do the Oracle upgrade. I plan on doing am export data pump of the Oracle data, remove 12cR1 install 12cR2 and then import the data files back into Oracle. Since it is all running on the same machine, I figure this is the cleanest method. Is there anything else I need to do with the data once it is in Oracle 12cR2? Does Oracle have an upgrade utility that would allow me to upgrade my existing 12cR1 install to 12cR2 without dumping/removing/importing the data?
CSP security should be considered an additional step to apply a defense-in-depth approach to address XSS and data injection in Windchill. This will ensure Windchill PLM adhere to CSP directives.
I want to create a workspace in Windchill calling Rest API from our web application. But no where to find such API end point in any of the Windchill Rest API documentation. Is it possible to create workspace using rest API, if not what are the alternative for it. The goal is to create a workspace and then copy cad documents to that workspace from a web application.
Has anyone created a folder subtype so that it can have different attributes in a specific context (presumably also it's own OIRs?)? There's plenty of discussion on CAD Document subtypes and WTDocument subtypes... I don't see anything on Folders in any documentation. For context: A particular product context has some custom type attributes that we agreed would be best served at the Folder level. I can add the appropriate attributes and make them searchable but that impacts ALL of the folders. So at creation of a new folder all of the users would then see the custom type attributes that are intended just for one product. So my thought was that I'll just make a folder subtype and have that be the default for the particular context. But, alas, there aren't OIRs for a folder so... how do I make it default for one context and not for the whole site?
There seems to be some functionality lacking from the advanced search tool. If you can offer any suggestions on how to set up the search tool for any of the following searches, please let me know. This is 10.2 M020. Thanks! All objects checked out by anyone in a particular context.Currenly I can search by a single user but I don't see anyway to wildcard the name.Objects based on status (new, checked in, checked out)The results can currenly be sorted by this status, but I'd like to search directly with it instead. The latest iteration of each revision, except the latest.Should be something like this:Or maybe like this:But these both only return the latest revision.
Hello, do you know : How to make parts only showing in 3D assmebly model but now show in BOM. When I make assembly drawings, is very often need to add some parts in my assmbly model to show the assembly relations, But my assembly BOm doesnt need these parts, Do you any sugestions? Thank you! Add information, in PLM BOM(BOM in windchill)
Hi All, We would love to be able to have a visual on the status and qty of jobs in the WVS queue, and wondering if anyone has ideas on how we could solve our requirement. Can the queue/job monitor information be queried or output in anyway? Is it possible to push this to thingworx dashboard or mashup somehow? any 3rd party tools out there that does this? Any ideas that can give us some leads to pursue would be appreciated.
Hi, is it possible to retrieve the subtypes of wtPart from database? I was thinking the attribute partTypeName, but in which table is it? Or is it...
Was curious if anyone is using Tetra4D automate + Enrich for creating PDF based TDP's / documentation. If so, issues? benefits? If not, do you use something else?
Hello All,I trying to write a Query report to list all the values of Classification Attributes for all the WTParts. I followed PTC solution CS220979, I'm only getting the Attribute Names of all the WTParts. The values of the Attributes are not generated. Is there something I'm missing to add in the query?Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks,Kiran
Starting in Windchill 12.0.2 we need allow PTC to connect with our Windchill servers or request an exemption. I'm sure we've all got intellectual property and commercial or security sensitive data stored in our systems. What are the risks and mitigations of opening up the connection so PTC can collect the licence data?
I am reaching out to the community here for help if anyone has seen this issue. We recently upgraded to CPS16 Windchill 11.1 M020 and our Windchill Rest Services are throwing intermittent issues where the the user can not retrieve any data. Invoking restendpoint directly from the browser is throwing errors intermittently. These are out of the box rest endpoints. After multiple refreshes, the endpoint starts working. {"error":{"code":"GENERAL_CONFIGURATION_ERROR_WITH_PARAM","message":"Configuration Error. See logs for details: org.json.JSONException: JSONArray[366] not found."}} Thanks, Preeti

Writing code has always been something that David Graham has enjoyed. Coming from a Mechanical Engineering background, this developer consultant has always had an interest in figuring out what a customer wants and how to get there, thus specializing as a Windchill Expert to make it happen. “All this code writing is just solving a puzzle,” said David. “There’s a lot of interesting problems to be solved.” David Graham is currently retired but worked for PTC from 1994 to 2001. As an active member of the PTC Windchill Community, David takes the time to network with other developers and will post solutions to roadblocks others may have. You may have read some of his posts on Windchill workflows. Beyond the PTC Community, David consults on Windchill with clients. When writing code, he might take an out of the box workflow in Windchill and assist a company looking to automate by customizing it to fit their needs. When it’s done, it likely does not resemble the
Hello all, hope you are well. This is the scenario: I have a Product template with a folder structure created. Also I have a workflow where in some task the user has to save a document in a predetermined folder. Right now what I did is to put the location in the Instructions task: something like this: You have to create a document in the folder Product name>Folder1> Folder 1.1 > Folder 1.1.1 .... But I would be nice that the user just have to click that location and another tap open in the right folder. Someone knows if is possible inserting a variable? Thanks in advance for reading this post or writing any idea. Luis
Hi all,I have a requirement of driver and dependent attributes which is based on selection of one value from combobox other attribute values should get populated. I'm referring to this solution https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS64401.So I have created a data utilities class which is mapped to my driver attribute. And from that I can able to call my javascript function which I have added in jsp page. And that onchange validation also working fine. But my javascript function is not changing the value of other attribute. Here is my javascript function.<script type="text/javascript"> function customChangefunction(){ var target = window.document.getElementsByName("resultCombo"); var src = window.document.getElementById("sampleCombo"); var strUser = src.options[src.selectedIndex].value; alert(strUser); var colours = new Array('Black', 'White', 'Blue'); var shapes = new Array('Square', 'Circle', 'Triangle'); var names = new Array('John', 'David', 'Sarah'); switch
I'm using Creo 5 with Windchill 11 and when I open Creo, type in my Windchill username/password, I always have to navigate to "Server Management", right-click on the server and un-check the "work offline" box. Does anyone know how to have Windchill automatically start online when it opens? I've talked with other folks in the office and theirs automatically starts online and they never need to go to server management and un-check that "work offline" box. We are all using/connecting to the same server. I understand it's not a long process to go to Server Management and just un-check that box but was curious as to why I need to and theirs is online by default. Thanks in advance!
Hi folks, anybody run into problems with NX fonts? I have zero experience with NX. Apparently our NX worker is publishing NX most of the time. The font seems to be correct, but the width is off. Thanks!
Hi all, we recently implemented the Afterloader as per CS216668 following option 2, its working as expected and copying our additional pdf files to the secondary content of the Drawing. We left the files types as "pdf stp igs dwg" So midway through the day I start getting calls from people telling me that their step files manually attached as secondary content to an EPMDocument were being deleted after checkin. We have a process whereby we create step files in Creo and save it directly to the EPMDocument, we save them with the naming convention <partnumber>_<version> (we dont publish step files as we often need to select different co-ordinate systems to export) So it looks like the AfterLoader code is deleting any secondary content which contains the same string of characters in the name as the EPMDocument, for example I have a CAD Part called 1234567.prt and it has secondary content, manually attached, called 1234567_V1.stp, after check in that step file attachment is gone
Hi, I changed the language from German to English, but the attributes remained unchanged Thank you!
I am trying to install Windchill 11.0 m030 CPS08 on a Windows Server 2016 machine with Oracle 12cR1. This for a rehost from a Windows Server 2012 machine in preparation for a Windchill 11.1 M020 upgrade. I got around an error running the PSI, but I cannot get around this Oracle User Home Password issue. I found a solution from 10.2 and tried that, but it did not help. Any suggestions?
Hi, is anyone using Amazon AppStream or CITRIX to share secure Creo connections to Windchill? I am interested in bringing 3rd party partners into Windchill to work on CAD data, but I don't want them downloading the CAD files to their own computer. Not sure if Creo Cloud still has legs with PTC, but the PTC training team is using Amazon AppStream to provide configured sessions of Creo for students. Curious if anyone is using a similar configuration to provide CAD access to external team members.
I'd like to hear what the community has to say about this topic.Much of the PTC server administration documentation for Windchill center around Windows Server. The majority support tickets focus on Windows Servers as well. It's my understanding that Java (jvm) is designed with linux as a first class citizen. I'm inclined to believe any linux distro would be better than windows servers for hosting the windchill app box. Can you provide me with any anecdotes or evidence to support either operating system?
