3D Part & Assembly Design

Good afternoon, I've been utilizing a Mapkey in my config.pro, along with the Creo Distributed Batch executable, in order to assist in a task with parts in Creo Parametric 7. However, my organization has recently upgraded to Creo Parametric 11, and using the same operation with Creo Distributed Batch, the objects ran through the task in Creo Distributed Batch now fail. Upon further research, I find this from PTC:Is Creo Distributed Batch now longer supported with Creo 11.0 functionality and parts/assemblies? What is the new alternative to "run a mapkey defined in a config.pro" as described by Creo Distributed Batch? I've been seeing a lot of discourse about Mapkeys in Creo 11.0 and have been trying to put everything together.I can provide more information if needed. 

I have a part with an truncated circle (with a flat ) for the base protrusion. I want to change this to a complete circle without having to redefine ALL THE FEATURES that refer to the "base protrusion."This would be changing an arc to a circle. A problem as old as time.I think it might be a good time to see if anyone has a solution.We are using Creo 10.0.7.0

Hi, For detailing, we use to set overall .dtl setup only for whole file. In that case can we change or set that .dtl. file for each sheet separately to control the parameters in each sheets? For ex:. For sheet1 -setup 1.dtl, For sheet2-setup2.dtl.  --Mani

Hi,Creo tells me that embedded components in an inseparable assembly are missing:How is this possible? My understanding is that those components are saved in the assembly file-how can they be missing?

So when importing large step assemblys as parts there will always be lots of errors and it will take hours.If its not a complete faliure meaning  "could not construct geometry",  there will at least always be transitions between parts that doesnt work,, and  the model will be a mix of solids and surfaces and very heavy to use.But when importing step as assembly keeping the parts intact as they were make from the source. There is almost never a problem.Is there no way to import as part and make the individual parts as bodies so Creo doesnt have to construct new impossible geometry ?For example Assembly with 10 parts will be Part with 10 bodys.

I'm working in Creo 11 and I have a fairly simple part, but I was trying to demonstrate a few concepts.   I'd like to have a family table of a part.  This part has 4 dimensions that will vary between nominal, MMC and LMC with the tolerance being a parameter.   I was hoping to write an expression that the MMC part was nominal + &tol and the LMC part was nominal - &tol, and I'd like to change the tolerance as a parameter.  I've used the excel table in the family table - but I wanted to verify that I'm not missing a better option.

I have a sheet metal part with punches and die-formed features. Does PTC Creo offer a way to calculate the blank size or developed length for this part to determine the required raw material? I know other CAD software packages have functionalities for generating flattened or developed patterns. Is this capability available in Creo 7?

Hi,I'm currently using Creo 9. I'm trying to make a drafted Hole as Datum B using GD&T Advisor. First, it only gives options to add Datum Targets as "Targets" tab turns red (see Image 1). After going in to the Target tab, I'm able to select "User-Defined Axis" option and then select the axis of the said hole. However, this option doesn't allow me to use position/perpendicular geometric characteristic for tolerance. The only available options are Straightness, Circularity, Profile of Surface & Angularity (see Image 2). I'm looking for a right way to add a position/perpendicularity tolerance w.r.t Datum A (bottom surface of the block). 

I have a user who is trying to tabulate changes to a sketch dimension, and the resultant values on other sketch dimensions. I have tried making family table instances where the lower dimension increments but repeat region table can only capture family table elements, not other affected model results not in the family table. looking for options.Users sketch

We're using Creo 9.0.9.0 to import STEP files saved by Catia 3DExperience R2018x. Whenever we import an assembly we get the child parts added in with the filename as <part number in catia>_000. The _000 isn't shown in the STEP file when opened in a text editor, so I have no idea where it has come from. Is there any way to turn this off? Many thanks!

Is it possible to create mitigatable links in Creo drawings to switch to particular sheet ? Like similar to Excel, word or PDF where we can directly go to particular sheet by clicking the on the text in Index.We have drawings where the number of pages go beyond 20, we are finding it difficult to navigate to particular sheet. When the PDFs of the drawings are generated through the publisher these links should work in any PDF browsers.

We made some cabling for our units using existing wiring diagrams, wire length are approximate as we match what we see in pictures and diagram. Our team wants the wire length to match 100% what the drawing says, but as wiring is mostly free sketch we don't know if it's possible to match the exact dimensions we have on our diagrams.  We use Creo Parametric 8.0.8.0 with Cabling application.

There was a Windchill update last Friday, so I worked in offline mode in CREO program but didn't export the model to my local disk. Now, I can't find it in my workspace. Is there any way to recover it?I don’t necessarily need the latest version—if there's a backup from last Monday or any earlier version, that would work for me as well.

Using Creo 4.0 here ...I have a 'handle type' part, that needs some edges rounded.I have a problem with modelling the inner round because it has to stop 'halfway', where the red arrow is (see screenshot below).If this part is produced on a milling machine, the round will of course not end 'abruptly' as shown below.There will be some run-out of the radius mill.How could I model this? The inner round, I have now modelled as a sweep along a sketch (you can see the sketch as the blue line). The mill run-out should look something like this: Kind regards    

Hello, I am working in Creo 9 and wondering if there is an option for bidirectional geometric tolerancing. I have included a snip of an example I am working on with polar bidirectional position tolerancing. I've tried calling the geo tol in an added dimension, but that doesn't seem to be allowed. If there is not a formal option, workaround recommendations would be useful. Thanks, 

Hello! My goal is to automate the creation of a drawing using parameters and relations. I have one problem left: changing a symbol without having to manually adjust the drawing itself.  I currently have 2 variants of a symbol, differing from each other like this: aaa-bbb-1 and aaa-bbb-2. Both are already placed inside the frame file of my drawing (outside of the actual drawing space).When I am working with my drawing, I am successfully able to put each symbol into a note by typing "&sym(aaa-bbb-1)".Now, my goal would be to eliminate the typing part and ideally have a yes/no parameter in my part, that activates one of the two symbols. I am able to fill out a note on my drawing using a parameter, but it only displays the text "&sym(aaa-bbb-1)" and not the actual symbol. Is there any way I can make this work?  I am currently working with Creo 6, but also tried it in 10 and 11. I am also open to switch to a higher version than 6, if there is a sol

Hi Folks,Using CREO 7.0.8.0I have never been able to understand what the purpose of the radio button designated 'Copy Drawings' is for. I always have it selected when copying an assembly in the graphics window, but drawings are never copied, neither for the renamed assembly nor any of the renamed sub components. What is the purpose of this selection? Thank you.

I have few images in sheet 1, I want to move them to other sheets. I don't see how this can be done, please help me.

I have a problem with a part that looks like that while unbend: And that as bend: The problem starts with those small internal surfaces in the cutouts. They must remain flat. I have tried to use JOIN but I have an issue with it. There is an error. I'll explain in another reply or edit this on later. For the moment the question is, can I "split" bending line to not bend those small features? 

hello,I have a problem: I use a material with user-defined parameters on a model; when I create the drawing, I want to insert a symbol that automatically includes the instructions for producing the component, and I would like the material parameters to be automatically inserted. Basically I am making grooves for a tiny coil of diameter like 0,5mm on a small cylinder body. I have made my 'groove', and revolved it around the axis of the cylinder and then patterned it using fixed spacing (pitch).But I have to manually adjust the length of the cylinder body sketch to make sure it doesn't get interrupted.Let me break it down to two objectives.I want the coil groove to be patterned automatically till a fixed reference edge/plane. The pattern cannot be interrupted midway unless it falls with 0.0Xmm of the seed pattern or 'whole'. (In other words, the last pattern cannot be broken or broken by a specified dimension 0,0Xmm. If it is broken then the wire diameter will not fit and that space is wasted.If this cannot be fulfilled, then the length of the cylinder is automatically reduced or increased to make that happen for the last pattern to be intersected by the given length 0.0xmm or be 'whole'/'undisturbed'.I hope it is clear now. What is the best way to go about this
