Is there a way to get the plus minus sign ± into math field? I couldn't find it from the symbols list so I guess the only way of getting it into the document is to copy+paste. However, Mathcad doesn't allow me to paste it into math-field, only to text fields...

When installing Mathcad Prime, in the third window the application selection menu is empty. I've run the .exe file as administrator and the problem persists. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there an option to make default input type text and not math? I'm doing a machine design course and we have to use Mathcad to calculate the exercises. Majority of the document will therefore be text so it would be more convenient if it was the default option. Meaning that if I just start writing, it'd write text and not math. Math-field could then be activated using [ctrl] [m]

Hello everyone: I have a question about how mathcad prime handles the units in the background. See attached Mathcad Prime 3 spreadsheet for reference. Why does the top formula (i.e., the one where the variables have units) get a different answer than the bottom formula (i.e., the one where the variables don't have units)? Shouldn't it be the same since, in this particular formula, all of the units cancel out? And how is this program handling the units in the background? Does it use default units under the hood and then convert from those default units to whatever units you type in? Thanks in advance for your replies.

PTC must have the most user-unfriendly support site I have seen. I want to check the expiration date of my current Mathcad support agreement, and even after logging into my account at tpc.com/support I cannot find that information. How can I check the date? If I look at the "extra" license file, it has an expiration date of 30-APR 2023.  Is that the same as the expiration date of my support agreement or does the license file have a grace period? Victor Roberts   

I have a permanent license for Mathcad Prime 3.1.  My laptop motherboard on this computer failed.   I've replaced the motherboard and can no longer use Mathcad.  When trying to get another license, I can't, since the software on the PTC site indicates that my product code is incorrect.   I'm currently retired (2016), and would like to get this working.   I'm not paying support, since I'm happy with the current versions Mathcad 15 and Prime 3.1.   Can someone guide me to the right person/contact? Thanks!Larry Callis 

Recently I have been having an issue where MathCAD Prime will nto run on my PC anymore. It loads the splash screen and then nothing happens afterwards. Looking at the task manager, a PTC MathCAD process begins but disappears when the splash screen disappears. I have followed the steps in the other relevant forum posts (below) and contacted PTC technical support for help with this issue but the only fix was to completely reinstall windows. Uninstall/Reinstall does not help, nor does copying config files from a PC where the software is still working. Does anyone know how to speed up MCP for processing large data sets? I am working with a 50832x14 size data set that is output in Excel from another program. I would prefer to filter, sort, and manipulate the data in MCP vs Excel. However, trying to execute a simple filter step in MCP on a data set this large has proven impossible. I can't get the function to complete (endless spinning wheel). Whereas I can complete this one step in Excel in about 1sec. Does anyone know how to speed this up? Or any other tricks for processing large data sets in MCP? I would really, really prefer to avoid Excel but at this point, I'll have to use it.Thanks!

I have an old file that colleagues developed and they created variables like this: Rop%.  I'm trying to re-create and improve some plots, which use this variable, among other similar definitions.  When I retype the variable name, Mathcad tells me the variable is invalid; undefined.  For the life of me, I can't figure out why.  But it looks like the percent signs (%) have different fonts.  So it looks like there's something different about them, but I can't replicate it.  Please see attached.   

Does anyone know how to reduce the file size of a MCP sheet or other ways to speed up processing? I am working on a big calculation package that reads in Excel data (~30000x15) and manipulates it various times (loads of filtering, sorting, assigning submatrices, etc.) that is going on 20-30 pages. Now the file size is almost 18mb and the sheet is moving very slow and takes a while to save. TOL and CTOL are set to defaults, and I am trying the multithreading option. Only working on one sheet at a time. Are there any methods to speed things up? Maybe purge past data once a step has been made? I don't have much experience with the clear() function, but could this be of use here? Open for suggestions. Thanks!MCP 8.0, Windows 10 Pro.

I thought it may be useful for others, too, so instead of just emailing the response to the customer, I am posting it here as well.   ------- We need to convert .mcd to .mcdx...We have Prime 6.0.0.0What do we need and how much does the program cost to do this conversion. ------- The .mcdx file format is Mathcad Prime. The .mcd file format is for earlier versions of the legacy software, later versions of the legacy software use the .xmcd file format.   If this customer uses Mathcad Prime 6.0 there is a converter that comes with the software they can use to convert all .xmcd and most .mcd files to .mcdx - ‘most’ .mcd as we only go back as far as something like legacy Mathcad 7, which was late 90’s I think.   From the Input/Output tab in Mathcad Prime 6.0 they can find an ‘xmcd/mcd converter’ button - clicking that will open the converter. The second result is the correct one.It gets even worse in this case:  It seems that Mathcad accumulates floating point errors in sums, which can be easily avoided (or greatly reduced) by applying a proper summation algorithm. HiI have plotted the results from two vectors. The graph resembles the shape of a half circle and I would like to find a function that fits the data so intersection points can be determined for other functions. I have tried many different curve-fitting tools but can't find a proper one that works.  I'm  thankful for any help!
