Windchill

Currently, our order of stopping a windchill through our batch file starts with Windchill Server>Windchill Apache> Windchill SolrServer> Windchill DS. when we run this batch file it takes a pretty long time (around 20+minutes) to stop windchill server. Even when everything stops windchill server will be on stopping mode. I tried re-ordering this in the batch file by stopping Windchill Server after Apache and DS and it took fairly less time (around 2 minutes) to stop. so, my question here is if I reorder the stop pattern will there be any impact in our system? I don't have any problem with Windchill start and I know it must follow the DS and Apache first before windchill server starts but just want a guidance on Windchill stop pattern.

My company makes custom filter equipment for each order. We are experimenting with EBOMs within WC. We would be making new MBOMs for every piece of equipment because no two are the same. Is there a way to Save-As both the EBOM and MBOM at the same time? I know you can Save-As the EBOM but that would require an MBOM to be remade for every single WTPart structure. Is there preference or setting I am missing?

Is it possible to export all published documents and all descriptive documents of a bill of materials?

Why is renaming/renumbering a managed collection granted through administrative permission instead of modify identity?  With modify identity on documents, the user can use the "Rename" action menu item... but for a managed collection it isn't there unless I grant administrative rights to the role.  Which I don't really want to do because I haven't researched enough to see what else would be granted. I am using WC 12.0.2.18 (upgrading soon, so if the answer is 'hey, just move to WC 13.x'... ok, I can live with it for a few more weeks)

Currently, some of my clients are experiencing issues with Windchill, such as the global search bar not appearing or contexts and libraries not appearing when accessing Windchill after granting all licenses. Even after clearing the cache and reconnecting, the issue sometimes persists, and sometimes it reappears. If the issue persists after clearing the cache and reconnecting, clearing one license will restore normal functionality. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Documenting this so future me's can find it. In our setup, we are publishing XML files to a local folder to the server. Our SAP system reads that folder and processes files that it finds. Got a weird one. We finally upgraded from 12.02 to 13.02! YEAH! A user called me today saying that they could not sign off on a task. I looked at their account and see that they were in the View and Print license group. But I also checked their records from the prior week and show that they did infact sign off on tasks. Is this an issue of groups not recomputing or something else? They must have had more than View and Print to be able to complete tasks last week. Strange that they suddenly did not show at least Windchill Base user license. 

Version: Windchill 12.0   Use Case: I would like to know if others are using the Workspace, Use Advanced Tab as Default preference = YES for CAD data management in Windchill. Description: The preference Workspace, Use Advanced Tab as Default = YES appears to be a great option for CAD users to understand exactly what is being added to their workspace. I have never enabled this for Creo users, but I'm curious to know if folks using other CAD solutions, such as Solidworks, are using this preference and whether or not it had a positive impact for users to understand what is being added to the workspace.    I'd like to provide more information about what is related to what in Windchill and ensure users are getting all the right models, drawings and parts in the process.

I have following scenario, where I am trying to understand the behavior and the possible cause of it: User ''A'' from Org ''A'' is accessing two different documents (1) and (2) in Org ''B'' in Document (1) he can see his shred filters on the document but for Document (2) he can not. Document (1) in ORG ''B'':• Access control for User ''A'': Read, Download• User can see his shared filters as shown:Document (2) in ORG ''B'':• Access control for User ''A'': Read, Download• User can NOT see the shared filters as shown: I would have at least expected the case to be the other way around. Hello All,As new person to Windchill Site Administration, I have question related to the Windchill Database.I need to know about what actually is stored in the database tables. I am referring to the actual storage that happens from Windchill Application to the Database server.Specifically for situations as mentioned below.1. Does database store only relations between WT part and CAD objects?2. Whether it stores file location path on Product container of Windchill?3. I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 12.1 and Datecode with CPS 12.1.2.0I've created the watermarks for the different types in the Watermark Editor.I've added them and configured the watermark map in Creo View (10).I modified the user_prefs and renamed to server_prefs.xml and uploaded that with the .ini files to the worker in Windchill.Watermarks are only appearing on Creo drawings when opened in Creo View - Models are not getting watermarked.I would also like to watermark the downloadable PDF "additional file".I am hoping to do this without having to purchase Adobe Experience Manager.

Document Classification? This topic comes up from time to time, but not consistently. I thought it would be a good idea to start a discussion on the topic to help gain better insight to the customers interested and their use cases. Some folks are genuinely interested in using PartsLink for documents, others are interested in something a bit lighter than PartsLink as a mean of not only classifying documents, but also enhancing the browse and search capabilities to make documents easier to find. My goal is to build a little momentum on this topic and start building a business case for supporting document classification in Windchill. I am facing a problem where the attributes on the first step of the edit change task wizard are not displayed. This is at wcadmin all the way down to a user with technically the correct access.  I have sifted through all the ptc CS and nothing has fixed my issue.  I can update resulting objects and finish the wizard just fine.  This is on a customized system with little documentation.  13.0.2.0

Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: I am executing the "AddColumns" command in the Windchill Shell. I am trying to add columns to the "wt.epm.EPMDocument" type. Having run the command already, I can see the following results when I run the command with the "-r" parameter: Total String column count = 0 (Database) **WARNING Total String column count = 0 (AddColumnsSchema.xml) **WARNING Total String column count = 1 (Introspection) **WARNING Total String column count = 1 (Class) **WARNING I have ran "AddColumns -syncFromDB" but still receive the results detailed above. After running this command I would expect the total string column counts for "Introspection" and "Class" to be set to 0. Ultimately, this issue stems from the need to add new columns to this type to allow me to create new local attributes for a new sub-type of "wt.epm.EPMDocument".Description: I am unable to establish how I can restore the total string column counts for "Introspection" and "Class" to "0". Hi. I was wondering if anybody can advise. I have received a fresh instance of Windchill. The person who performed the install of the software on the application server did not use a new local "wcadmin" account to complete the install. Instead, the initial admin account used to perform the install was an account from our Enterprise Directory. Our LDAP server is configured to be read-only. Consequently, I have received the new Windchill instance with an inability to create local Windchill accounts - it seems it is now only possible to import users from active directory.  Please can anybody advise how important it is to have at least one account in Windchill that is not an account from active directory that can be used for admin purposes?
