Hello, I'm trying to create and simulate contact analysis on mounted parts there are 6 main frames, 12 bolts and 4 pins with around 20 contacts defined. simulation doesn't converge at all. everything i've tried didn't get me anywhere always contact area is dancing around and residual factor too. I'm sure that I have defined all the contacts in all the places. All the frames are modelled as 1 part and all the bolts has slight interpenetration to create pretension. But it doesnt converge at all. Is there any good practice how to create contact simulation with many contacts? \  Things that i've tried: create pretension, delete pretension, fine mesh, rough mesh, change parameter called sim_contact_tolerance_factor increase/decreace, change convergence settings, finite friction, infinite friction, 0 friction, Example of convergence:    Load factor : 1.00000e-01 Residual norm tolerance: 1.00000e-09 -------------------------------------

While crafting this "toy" CAD model to answer another question on this forum, I re-discovered the curious issue that one sometimes encounters with models which "goes away" if you play with the model accuracy. The dimpled top surface is generated by (graph-driven) variable section sweep. The model works fine if the absolute accuracy is 0.001 (or greater?) - but fails when it is smaller... The model in the attached zip file is failing as it was saved with absolute accuracy value set at 0.0001.   Isn't it concerning that increasing the fidelity of the model breaks it? This model made in Creo 4; I'd be curious to hear whether such problems are not encountered in newer version of the software.

Hi,in the introductory video of what's new in Creo 9.0, in the Sketcher section, there is "Auto-scale first sketch".Looking in the config I found the option:sketcher_auto_scale_dimensions which by default is set to "yes".The description of the option is: "When creating the first sketch in the model and modifying the value of a weak dimension for the first time, controls whether to auto scale the sketch in proportion to the modified dimension. "I haven't been able to make it work yet, maybe I misinterpret it, has anyone managed to make it work?Thank you.I use creo 9.0.0.0

Hello!To create a report for Fire Certificate Inventory List (EN 45545) I want to use a repeat region of my top-level assembly.For every part, I need to report the assembly where it is mounted.Is there any option to report the Part Number (or any other parameter) of the immediate upper level?I hope the picture below can explain this case better.Thanks!   

Can an autogem mesh created from a subassembly and saved be re-used in a top-level assembly autogem mesh?  I'm using Creo Simulate (Creo Parametric 7.0.10.0), native mode. I have saved several subassembly meshes and I would like to use them in a top-level assembly, but I'm unable to make it work.  The subassembly meshes do not appear in the top level with all the connections that were created at that level;  I must recreate them at the top level.  The saved meshes are stored in the active workspace in Windchill as .mma files (.mmp files for parts). I noticed that there is more literature available related to assembly meshes when using FEM mode.  Is that the mode I should be using to create and save meshes for this task?  Can this not be done using native mode? Thanks!  

I want to build a model of a circular plate with elliptical holes in it. The holes center coordinate and orientation data are in a .txt file. The center coordinates and orientation are random. Can I make this type of tabulated pattern in creo, please if possible help me out Circular plate radius is - 1024 mm Ellipse semi major - 30 mm Ellipse semi minor - 15 mm   I have attached the .txt file . first and second column is x and y coordinate and third column is orientation of major axis from x         

I have a program that updates drwing notes per regen.  If a note loses it reference I want to change color.   Theres a colorset function, but I am struggling to set up a ProColor datatype.   Does anyone have an example of setting up a ProColor datatype. ?      Thanks for any assistance.

Hello,I am new to creo and I was wondering if it is possible to make my datum planes not transparent anymore.Now if I select a plane just the border changes color. But I want the entire plane to change color.Can somebody help me?      

Hi all, I am new to creo I have a query on the drawing of view. I have projected a view from a parent view and have created a lot of dimensions. Now I just want to delete the parent view or make the projected view as a parent. Is there a way to do this? This is because if I delete the parent view then the projected view also gets deleted along with it. Thank you so much for your help in advance.

Hello! We're using our custom jLink plugins in our Creo. One of them is creating/storing external data into model and the second plugin is reading the data from the model. It's working more-less properly with one exception: when there are no external data created yet and the first plugin creates them for a first time, they are not visible for the second plugin even after model Save/Refresh/Regenerate. They start to be visible even after model close and open again. In subsequent cases, when an existing external data are updated/extended, they are directly visible without need of model close/open. Does anybody observed such a behaviour and could help us how to make external data visible even after initial save? Thank you very much!Juraj   

Hi, Want to thank the PTC Prime team.  PTC do listen and fix things.  This only effects people with the Ryzen chipsets instead of Intel.   In Prime 8 any use of the matrix functions that use the intel math kernel (IMK) for matrix manipulation like Cholesky, QR, LU, eigenvals, eigenvecs, simple inversion would instantly crash the v8 program if you were on a Ryzen chipset.   PTC have listened and fixed it for Prime 9.0.0.0.   Thank you.   Cheers Terry

After updating from Creo 4 to Creo 7, we are having problems when redefining sketched hole features.  The dimensions are stretched way out across the screen,  If you drag the dimensions and refit several times, you finally get back to the proper view.  Is there a config setting that I am missing that could solve this problem? 

Has anyone experienced this problem where NaN results appear and disappear for no obvious or repeatable reason ?  This is not a one-off event and appears to happen when working with large worksheets.  It happened a lot with Prime8 and it appears Prime9 is prone to the same issue.  On recalculating the worksheet and changing nothing, I get:If no one else has seen this issue then it might be a problem with my machine - although, I have checked the memory without finding any issues. Thanks GeoffD

Still getting familiar with all the settings in Creo.  I have an imported parasolid part that has SI default units, and I'd like to change the default units.  I figured out how to do it for new parts, but I can't figure out how to change the units for imported parts.  I can take measurements, but I would like to export the mass properties in U.S. units.   Is there a way to do this, or do I need to open a new model and import the parasolid into that .prt file? 

I'm trying to open old Mathcad files that have the extension formats xmcdz, xmcd, and mcd. However your current version of Mathcad Express Prime 9.0.0.0 doesn't seem to be able to open these old formats. What do I need to do to be able to open and convert these old files into the new version.Your assistance is much appreciated.

Hello All, I have been working on Fibersim with a Creo 3D model and whenever I try to get the plies I get a fatal error which indicated that a traceback.log file is created in my user folder and Creo parametric and Fibersim inmediately shut down. The traceback file cotains the following relevant information: Exception EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION has occurred in the thread 52700. Does anybody know how can I fix this issue? Thank you in advance     

Hello, I have a problem in Creo 7.0, when I try to import an IDF with some small components in it. I get a warning that asks me to change the sketch. I found where the problem comes, I need to use the inlbs_part_ecad_rel.prt not the inlbs_part_ecad_abs.prt template. I renamed it and it works very well.But I am looking for a cleaner way to use it.Is there an option in config.pro which allows to replace the inlbs_part_ecad_abs template into inlbs_part_ecad_rel when used for importation? I already tried template_ecadpart option, but no change. Thank you! 😊

 Dear community, I have trouble with 3D model creation.I have the location coordinates (x, y) of the 3D model, but it is complicated and too many to handle.Consequently, it takes a lot of time to draw the 2D profile.If we draw the 2D profile from its location coordinates automatically, it would be a great help.In addition, all models have a cylindrical shape. It would also be a great help for me if we rotate the profile on z axis automatically.Could anyone have an idea to do this? 

Issue: Error "Conversion failed. Could not start Mathcad conversion process" while converting legacy Mathcad worksheets in Mathcad Prime OR Mathcad Prime with parallel installed Mathcad 15.0 does not convert .xmcd files to .mcdx with error message:Mathcad conversion process could not be started.     Resolution: There are two options to resolve this issue:   Option I: Find Mathcad Prime shortcut on desktop > right mouse click > Properties Select Compatibility tab Under Privilege Level section check option check Run this program as an administrator Apply > OK Option II: Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Component Services Under Component Services, select Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config Select Mathcad, right-click, then select Properties Select the Security tab Click #Edit under #Access Permissions Select the System User and allow Remote Access rights
