Is it possible to connect KepWare to a device that uses TCP socket communication? So, basically to send a command to the device (IP/port) and receive a string response? The device is Tettex 2293Command I’d like to send is ‘*IDN?’\r\nExpected response is a model and a serial number in a string.
We are having problems with two Kepware implementations reading differently. Here are the specifics: We have one server that has KepServerEX 6. It reads one of our PLCs well; no problems. We also have a new server with Kepware Server 7. This implementation will not read from the exact same PLC. It’s showing Bad in the OPC quick client. Has anyone seen this before?
Hello,I have a customer with an older machine running KEPServerEX 5.0 who needs to transfer the software license to a new system. However, when attempting to use the license transfer process, an error occurs. We also noticed that the customer's Support & Maintenance expired around 2018. Even when trying to submit a support case, version 5.0 is not available as a selectable product, so we're unsure whether this is an expected limitation or a temporary issue.I have two questions:Q1. Does PTC still provide assistance for legacy products such as KEPServerEX 5.0, or is this likely just a temporary issue with the support portal?Q2. What is the recommended way to help the customer transfer the existing license? Is there still a process to transfer the license for an unsupported version? Or would the customer need to purchase Support & Maintenance again, or upgrade/purchase a new license? Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.

Olá, estou com problema no kepserver ex 6.5 - atualmente tenho por volta de 44 data clients, porém o sistema após alguns dias de operação começa a me retornar com mais de 1000 clients, ocasionando no travamento do servido. Podem me ajudar ?
This error caused the kepware to restart automatically and the OPC connection to Ignition was faulted.
We have KEPServerEX v6.17.269 installed in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment and are planning to upgrade to v6.18.318 at the earliest. Before proceeding, we would like to understand any potential impact of this upgrade. Based on our assessment, we expect no impact on the existing project configuration and runtime operation. However, we would appreciate confirmation on the following points:1. OPC UA Certificate-Based CommunicationWe are currently using OPC UA certificate-based communication between KEPServerEX and connected systems.Could you please confirm:Will upgrading from 6.17.269 to 6.18.318 have any impact on the existing OPC UA certificates? Will the OPC UA server and client certificates remain unchanged after the upgrade? Is there any scenario during the upgrade where certificates are regenerated or reissued? If certificates are regenerated, will we need to re-establish trust relationships with all upstream and downstream OPC UA clients/servers connected to KEPServerEX?O
I Transferred a Perpetual License,License shows as ‘good’ in the license utility.License shows as ‘Active’ on the Kepware website.BUT KepserverEX is still showing a 2hr time limit, after which, it deactivates. License support expiry is 10/2019.I am uncertain what Kepserver version it was originally running on.Now running on Kepserver 6.18.318.0 QUESTIONS:Is this a Kepserver version issue? How do I see what version of kepserver my licenses need?Or has Kepware made it so you can't transfer older licenses without paying?
Hi all,A few years back I had a use case where I wanted to use the kepware configuration API to create and modify advanced tags from thingworx. Does anyone know if this functionality has been added or is in the future plans to be developed?
I have a requirement for taking IEC61850 data from an IED device into the Kepserver. After which i need Factorytalk view SE using OPC UA client to read that data. How can I go about it?
Hello, i’m facing an issue with KepserverEX6 not updating values according to specified scan rate (1000ms) from a Modicon M580 PLC. Modbus TCP/IP driver is set, i’m using 241 tags, i use only one channel and one device. Instead of 1s i see values update roughly 5-15 seconds. There are no other clients in Kepware communicating to the same device, only one OPC UA client reads/writes the same data from localhost (soft-PLC installed in the same server where Kepware is). The same soft-PLC in parallel reads/writes data in a different channel (Simulator Driver), and there everything is okay. So i don’t think issue is coming from the soft-PLC. When i use quick client on the Modbus TCP/IP channel i also see data updating slow.Network card is 1gbit. My channel settings that could affect the communication are following:Write Optimization :Write only latest value for all tagsDuty Cycle is set to 10Communication Serialization :Network Mode is Load BalancedEthernet Socket utilization is set One or
What device-model correlates to the F3SP53-4s CPU yokogawa controller driver? Are there options I’m missing? Am I using the right channel driver?
Hi,We are trying to make a hardware key work on Windows server VM running on HyperV. There is no USB passthrough, so we were thinking of DIGI AW02 hub or SILEX DS-700. Is this something that can work with HW license? Is there anything I should watch out for? I’m running KEPServerEX 6.18.
Hi,I am looking to connect to Fanuc Robodrill CNC and collect some of the machine parameters. What would I need to get in order to get this? I already have Kepserver with AB driver talking down to the site. Can i set up Focas and Ethernet/IP on Fanuc Robodrill to make it work as plant port already used to communicate with AB PLC on plant?
Using the Open Torque Tool Protocol driver, I am struggling connecting a Atlas Copco MT Focus 6000 (not Power Focus). According to the Kepware driver supported devices, this is a supported device. However, it has proven impossible to connect to the LTR tags and the 1201/1202 tags to get torque results. We have validated that the 'Communication' messages are successful and valid, and can validate data via diagnostics. However, the driver does not recognize the data format and sets most tag quality to 'Bad (Out of Service)' We have tried every message revision and MID8 / MID60. Is it truly possible to get torque result data from an MTF6000 using Kepware's Open Torque Tool Protocol driver?
hi all,I’m trying to setup a Modbus TCP/IP connection on a thingworx Kepware server 6.18, to an energy meter from Circutor (CVM-E3-MINI-ITF-WiEth, manual can be found here M170F01-03.pdf). I’ve setup connections to other energy meters before using Modbus TCP/IP without issues, but with this device I keep getting unrealistic values.I’ve literally tried using all different combinations on Data access & encoding, but the output I’m seeing seems either extremely high or extremely low, sometimes more or less stable but often also varying a lot which can normal if the byte order was swapped. The manual doesn’t really tell much on the Modbus-TCP setup, like what device-id I need to be using. So far I’ve tested mostly with device-ID 1 which seems most logical in that case, but I’ve used other device-id’s like 2 or 7.I’m hoping anyone has some experience with these types of devices or recognizes this type of behaviour and has some ideas on how to solve it.Many thanks in advance.H.
Hi Experts,I'm looking for guidance from Kepware, ThingWorx, and security experts regarding certificate handling between ThingWorx and Kepware, particularly around REST-based integrations and Java truststore behavior.BackgroundUsing Kepware IoT gateway I am downloading MES data.During troubleshooting of a Work Order (WO) download issue between ThingWorx and Kepware, observed that:In one environment, WO downloads failed and the issue appeared to be related to an expired Kepware REST server certificate. After addressing the certificate issue, WO downloads resumed successfully. However, in other environments, the Kepware REST server certificates were also expired, yet ThingWorx-to-Kepware communication and WO downloads continued to function normally.Initial investigation suggested that the difference may be related to the Java truststore (cacerts) contents on the ThingWorx servers. In some environments, the Kepware certificate appears to be trusted/imported into the JVM truststore, while
I currently have a KEPServerEX 6.7.1054.0 instance running on a production server. The original application owner is no longer with the company, and unfortunately, the installer for this exact version is not available in our internal software repository.I do not see a way to obtain this exact legacy installer from PTC, so I am evaluating whether it is safe to proceed using a newer KEPServerEX installer within the 6.x major version. Before moving forward, I would like to confirm a few things to minimize risk in a production environment: License Compatibility Is licensing for KEPServerEX 6.7 generally forward-compatible within newer 6.x releases (e.g., 6.14 or later)? Specifically, will existing licenses (including licensed modules) remain valid after an in-place upgrade? Upgrade Risk / Downtime Considerations Has anyone performed an in-place upgrade from 6.7 to a newer 6.x version in production? Were there any licensing reactivation issues or unexpected service interruptions? Module
Hi,I am using Kepware Server v7.0.236 with FTView v16 on Windows Server 2025 in a Domain setup. The Kepware Server is installed on the same server as the FTView application. I have a FTView Client PC (Windows 11 24H2) which runs the FTView client. The problem is when I run the FTView client on the W11 PC any tags on a graphic which directly address the Kepware server don’t read. I’ve gone through every step of the Kepware “Configuration Guide Remote OPC DA (DCOM)” and had a 2 hour Teams session with Kepware UK Tech support (MAC Solutions) while I’ve had remote desktop connection to the server. We went through the settings on both the Server and Client step by step and confirmed the recommended settings were in place and even uninstalled/reinstalled Kepware but nothing has worked.Anyone had similar issues and found solutions ?
Hi,We are getting frequent warning events in the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet Driver even though there are no changes at the PLC end. Communication is mostly stable but warnings keep appearing.Has anyone faced this? Any insights on possible causes or troubleshooting steps would be helpful. Thanks!
Not able to read correct/exact data of siemens S7-300 PLC tags, datatype is TIME OF DAY/datetime/time.Thingworx Kepware Server v6.16.217.0
I have upgraded our Kepware system and I need to remove LinkMaster and the OPC server that is with it. Since everything seems to break Kepware licenses, are there precautions that need to be taken in uninstalling LinkMaster or can you just use the Windows Uninstaller?
Hello, Has any configured KEPServerEX to be able to run timers between a start and end trigger tags? I want to be able to setup Operation Cycle Time Logging from plcs tags and be able to calculate the time that it takes for the operation. Example: Timer between hit of a start button and final test saying that the test passed without having to create a timer in the plc itself to monitor this operation Thank you
Hi, I have a customer that is using Kepware Server for OPC DA / OPC UA / OPC DA communication between two systems. At the moment we are having issues with certain slow updating tags (booleans and integers) that freezes and are not updated between the two systems. Continuous updating values are no issue... The issue seem to be that the tags gets timed out and are not correctly mirrored between the systems. If we create local subscriptions on the KepServer node on the actual tags the error seem to disappear. Is there a way to configure kepware to establish the subscription to the source tags regardless of the client status? We cant find any correlating error messages in kepware.
Hi there, I’m trying to set up a connection between Modbus TCP driver in Kepware Server 7 and modbus ModRSsim2 simulator.Port 502 and device ID = 1 are used in both ends. When Kepware starts, it shows the following line i log window: Channel1 | Starting unsolicited communication. | Protocol = 'TCP', Port = 502. Should it be something like Modbus TCP Client/Master mode instead ?In Kepware Server 7 where do you switch between Modbus TCP Client/Master mode and Modbus TCP Server/Slave/Unsolicited mode when you set up a channel ?Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Henrik
