GreetingsI have a rather strange question, with topic that some people might consider insignificant and unimportant, but this particular function that Im making will probably be used numerous times in a single worksheet. For that reason Im trying to optimize almost every function in my file as much as possible. Ofcourse I dont expect a detailed answer with testing results etc, but rather your thoughts on this topic.In this case, I need to determine in which region of IAPWS-IF97 (formulation for thermodynamic properties of water) the point lies on a pressure-temperature plot.P-T Diagram, Validity range of IF-97So, here is the question itself: wich model of (p,T) function would be faster and easier to calculate (e.g. on a low-spec hardware), the one with separated IF`s, or the one where IF`s combined with usage of multiple "and (˄)" and "or (˅)"?And will the result be different in Mathcad Prime?Model 1Model 2Functions and constants used (for clarification, in case you are interested)ps(T

I am using Mathcad Prime Release 10.0 and Datecode10.0.1.0Hello,is there a way to insert line breaks in Mathcad expressions, especially when using READEXCEL with long file paths? I need to read two matrices from different files and combine them using AUGMENT(A, B), but the full expressions do not fit on one worksheet line.Is line wrapping supported, or is there a recommended workaround?

Hi,I looked through the API guide and downloaded the examples. The last part of the code displays 'output1' in message box. It does not have example on how to show the matrixoutput1.Can you help with this? I need to get matrix from the sheet. 

Hey there. I've been trying all sorts of different ways to try and get this solver to work. Different errors depending on the way I approach it. I believe it should solve. None working. all help would be amazing. Really the two outputs i care about are R_o and h_2.Thanks!

Hi all,  Currently experiencing an issue with an Excel component on a colleagues computer. The Mathcad file, attached, works on my computer fine but not my colleagues. States his "excel is busy". Any ideas why it works on my computer but not my colleagues?   Many thanks,Iain  FYI, I am using Mathcad Prime 10.0.0.0 (and is my colleague).

I am using Mathcad Prime 11 and I am a bit confused about how symbolic solving and variable definition work. In my worksheet, I use the symbolic solve operator and Mathcad returns a value for VBL, but when I try to evaluate the variable afterward, it still appears undefined or does not behave as I expect. I am not sure whether I am using the wrong operator, whether the symbolic result is not actually being assigned to the variable, or whether I should be using a solve block instead. The following screenshot describes the issue. I would really appreciate any guidance on what I am doing wrong and how to properly define and reuse the solved variable in the worksheet.

Hi there ,I need to make CWD ,which is used to identify the location of the input, fixed . So if I send my Mathcad sheet to someone else he can open the sheet and see the calculation.Is that possible or he has to change the CWD and the input file ( in_file) ?Regards, Yusra  

When using the symbolic solver, Mathcad Prime 11 often puts in unnecessary parentheses. I've tried every keyword in the symbolics pull-down menu to get rid of the parentheses with no luck. Is there a way to get Mathcad to remove the unnecessary parentheses? For example, I would like to see the following.  

I’ve been looking at automating some calculations with the Viktor program.  Viktor acts as a kind of app builder for python apps.  I’d like to use MathCAD to perform the actual math for the calculation because it’s easy to see the math workflow, but I’d use Viktor as the bridge between my finite element program to bring results into MathCAD and to help visualize results.  Does anyone have any experience with integrating MathCAD with Viktor?  Any guides or tips you can provide?

I have a character replace function.  I would like to use it to replace a string with a string.  If the user inputted duplicate "OR's" then I want the function to thin out "OR OR" to just "OR". Thanks in advance

Hi my current workflow involves input a few variables on the first page of mathcad worksheet, then jump to the last page to see the output results after lengthy calculations. I have to tweak the inputs so that the output can meet or at least is close to certain value range. This is not efficient, so I am thinking if the worksheet can take in multiple sets (say, about 100) of input, read one set at a time, do the evaluation, then write the output result somewhere/in some file; then it will jump to the next iteration.I do not want to rewrite the input as vectors, because this will require rewrite all formulas using vectorize operators. Thank you . 

I am looking for Mathcad files that deal with synchronous electric motors (non-salient poles and salient-poles).These files should include fundamental mathematical equations for the motors and the calculation of their characteristic curves. A few years ago, I had access to this type of file, created by Mr. Roman Miksiewicz of the Silesian University of Technology (Poland).Unfortunately, the files I have do not cover synchronous motors. If you have such files, could you please provide them to me as Mathcad "xmcd" files, as I do not have Mathcad Prime?I am a retired engineer and volunteer my time helping students with their studies. Thank you in advance. Richard

Hello, I use Python to extract data from Mathcad Prime files, based on the previous post below. One thing I noticed is that our Python tool will crash when you have a new line in a text region. Getting rid of the new line in the text region gets rid of the crashing issue. When I go into the Mathcad .zip file with all of the XML data, I do not see any difference between two files - one with text with a new line and one  with no new line. Where would I find the new line data in the text region? I will update the Python code to catch new lines, but I dont even see where the new lines are in the text region.    Mathcad Prime 9.0 Scripting with XML Data - PTC Community

I am using Mathcad V15.  I have started playing with using controls in some of my sheets to limit certain variables to having only certain inputs.  In my one sheet, I added a list box control for a variable, and the only choices the user could select would be "B", "C", or "D".  When I finished my sheet, I set the variable to selection "C", saved and then closed.  When I reopened the sheet, the selection of "C" for the variable was cleared.  Is there a reason why the sheet did not retain the selection for the control?  Is there a setting somewhere that I can change that will allow the selection to remain?  Thank you!

The attached file has two functions.  The top function work but will not allow double quotes in the second column of a text file.  The second function works to do that, and it works well enough.  Was wondering if I could improve it with a TRY... ON ERROR addition?

Hi PTC Community - I have two variable quantities (Water & Ammonia) evaluated over two different temperature ranges over which only they are each valid.I would like to plot both with a common x-axis range (-70°C to +370°C), and not be limited to either the T1 or T2 (MIN, MAX) range.See how the Ammonia (pink) plot is being limited to the MIN(T1) value of 1°C. See attached. I am using Mathcad Prime 11.0.1.0. Your tips and suggestions for a fix will be appreciated. Regards,thodij

I am the onsite tech for an Engineering company.  I have a user who has Mathcad Prime version 11.0.1.  The install did not give me the option to install Xmcd, MCD converter.  I read the posts that the user needs version 15.0 or higher to have those features but the user says that she does not need 15.0.  She said that is an older version and she won't be able to run her files.  How can I get this feature installed?
