Our team kept running into issues and frustrations with converting large quantities of MathCAD Prime calculations into PDFs ready for engineering submittals. Too much time was wasted with monotonous tasks or tools that didn't work right.We built an app that lets you drag and drop 100+ MathCAD Prime calculations and batch-publish them to PDF. You can even choose to get individual PDFs or a single binder at the end with all files combined. We even built in a progress bar with estimated time remaining, an error log for troubleshooting, and, best of all, background processing. We're thinking of using MathCAD Prime. One of our key requirements is to be able to programmatically print MathCAD Prime files to PDF (i.e. with no user interaction). I know this is possible with MathCAD 15 (you automate printing to PDF from the commandline with MathCAD 15 by adding the "-p" option after the executable and before the filename), but I cannot see how to do it with MathCAD Prime. I've been looking through the API documentation: https://support.ptc.com/help/mathcad/r7.0/en/index.html#page/PTC_Mathcad_Help%2Fmathcad_and_automation_api.html%23. It says that you can print MathCAD Prime worksheets, but I cannot actually find this documented anywhere.Please could you let me know how to do this, either from the API or from the commandline?Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone If a have a nested matrix like this one below and I want to exclude the first row  of each small matrix in the original one How can I do that , when I try (submatrix function) it excludes the first matrix , but I want to exclude the first row of each matrix by the way my ORIGIN =1 I'm expecting the answer to be like (X sub ) in the second picture Thanks Yusra  

Hi thereI have a problem with this function . The issue is R is a cumulative value so the R2=R0+R1> R3= R0+R1+R2 and so on... I wanted to implement that in this function but an error ( must be a vector ) shows Is there a way to fix this or to write it differently Thanks The sheet is attached prime 11

We often deal with mathcad calculations that are 100 pages or more.  These can be unwieldly to navigate and check especially for those that did not develop the mathcad calculations.  One thing that could greatly improve the formating of mathcad would be to have the ability to have something like the tabs in an excel sheet.  Another way to do this would be to have the ability to have chapters or sections that could be tabbed through.  If it was done with chapters or sections, there could be a table of contents page with links to each section.  I know that mathcad had the ability to hide calculation regions but this is not nearly as user friendly.  This is a wish list item that I think would really improve the user interface for many users.  

Hi! I tried to find older discussion related to rainflow counting algorithm and found some but unfortunately they lead me to new problem. I used some program created by Ian Ward and was able to create workbook for my needs. But for some reason it doesn't always work like it should. Problems occur with some initial data and are related to the array index, I believe. Please find two identical calculation sheets attached with different initial data in embedded excel file. The file "Rainflow Cycle Counting A" works fine but the "Rainflow Cycle Counting B" does not. Can someone advice what is the problem, please? And another question, at the end of the calculations I have another embedded excel file to combine the rows in matrix that has identical values in the first column. For example, if I have values 3, 3, 3 in the first column and corresponding values of 2, 4, 6 in the second column, I would like to have them added so that I have row: [3, 12]. Hello, I am trying to use an IF Statement to check one vector against another.  I would like to return the same value into a vector or an altered value depending on if the one vector's value at a row is above 0 degrees.  I have tried replacing Theta_0 with the value of 0 deg.  Either way I am getting an error that says the value must be a scalar.  Could someone help me figure out how to make this IF Statement function properly?   V/r,Devin

Thanks in advance for any input.  I am somewhat new to Mathcad Prime.  I have generated a range variable sigma_t. when i use this in an equation H(sigma_t):= it does not compute and gives the "this variable is undefined" error.  I cannot for the life of me figure out what the issue is and what i can do to fix this.  assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Then I overwritten values for t1 and t2 and test variable result was updated with the new values of t1 and t2: Then I disabled t1 and t2, but the test variable remained unchanged. Why t1 and t2 did not took value 2 and update the test variable result with 4?  

Hello All:  I have encountered some strange behavior with the new "vec()" function in Mathcad Prime 11.  An example of this is shown in the screen capture below.   In trying to plot a complex function (the volume of a sideways cylindrical tank), the old way with a "range" for the h in this example gives the correct results (determined independently of Mathcad). However, the h created by the vec() function yields very different results in this instance.  I tried other simpler formulas [e.g, sqrt(2*R*h-h2)] and the results were satisfactory and both results matched.  But as I started fleshing out the equation with more terms, the behavior diverged as per the example below.   The other terms, when isolated, produce satisfactory results.  Only the term shown below in V2(h) presents strange behavior.  More still, expressing V2(h) differently (e.g., algebraically rewriting the expression will create still different but, likewise, still w

Hello All, Has the Math software Wolfram become a competitor to Prime in terms of Engineering value? In Prime going back 10 years or so, I used simple loops to get my calculations done.Which these loops are basic to Mathcad and Prime.I have not known Prime for a programming language rater symbolic programming for loops etc.I have come across Wolfram very often when I need something to calculate on the spot using the internet. Thru that I have recently learnt that it is quite impressive.You can set a grid worksheet and have its color light green too like Prime/Mathcad sheets.So, for me that is some cause of an attraction or pull to Wolfram.Especially considering the price.And it is loaded with a full programming language. Tell me am I missing the serious engineer deep thoughts on this?Your comments are appreciated.  Kind Regards,Karl Bogha.

Hello!. Please, help with the following issue: I have defined two matrices and use them in equation where they are being multiplied. By some reason I get only one value instead of an array. If I define the one matrix ("k") as a variable, then the computation goes on, as it should, and I get an array. What I am doing wrong? 

It would be very useful if Mathcad supported a column-based or region-based document layout for engineering calculation sheets. In traditional calcpads or formal calculation reports, calculations are often arranged into clear vertical sections, for example: "Reference / Code clauses / Assumptions""Calculations""Results / Output"At the moment, Mathcad provides a single continuous canvas with free placement of text and math regions. While the grid helps with alignment, there is no way to define fixed columns, regions, or containers that keep content aligned consistently. A typical example:On one horizontal “row”:Left: a short text description (e.g. Bending stress)Middle: the actual formula and calculationRight: the applicable code referenceCurrently this requires manually placing and adjusting multiple text and math regions, which becomes difficult to maintain and easily breaks when edits are made. It would be beneficial to have something like this implemented as it&n

Given how little versions changed, it has frustrated us all that we cannot save in older versions.  I suspect this is largely a marketing ploy to force upgrades and new purchases. And, probably controlled by a simple version check.  So after a little thinking, digging and experimenting, I have been able to open 5.0 files in 4.0.  I haven't played with it much and I'm sure it's limited - but it might help someone someday.    With the new version file a.) Change the extension to .zip b.) Unzip to a folder c.) Delete app.xml in docProps folder   With the older version i.) Save any file ii.) Change the extension to .zip iii.) Unzip to a folder iv.) Copy the app.xlm in the docProps folder v.) Paste this 'old' app.xlm into the folder where you deleted the last one.  You should just be able to re-use this file anytime you want to do this.   Go back to the 'new' version folder: Re-Zip all folders and files that had been unzipped. Change extension from .z

Hi, Is it possible to reset variables? For example, if I want to have one file with multiple different calculations inclduing a variable for diameter, is it possible to have a line break or something, so that any variables above it are not used? Therefore variable for diameter needs to be redefined again.  I know that just re-using the same variable redefines it, and that I could use D, D_1, D_2 and so on, but I do not find these acceptable solutions as it increases potential for calculating errors. And sorry for asking this, I know this must be a common question, but I don't seem to be finding the old ones.  

I am trying to find a Variable in a "F"+subscript(tl) format. Find only searches for "F" alone, but that finds F with any subscript or tl but that finds any variable with tl subscript. How do I find my "F"+subscript(tl)s? p.s. This forum wont even let me format the subscript ...  p.s. If PTC decided to wage war upon subscripts, why did they not superscript them in the convertor???
