Hi all, I'm a long time user of Mathcad but first time poster - hoping someone can tell me where I'm going wrong! I'm having trouble in Prime 11 creating functions that use vectorized multiplication of two vectors, where the values inside one of the vectors was created using the sum operator. When I do the equivalent operation directly within the worksheet (i.e. not within a function it works without error. When I try replacing the sum operator within the function with a value it all works without error. The error message I get is "This value must be a matrix of scalar elements all of which have the same units" I've seen a lot of discussion about how this error can come from inappropriate use of ranges when vectors should be used - I've checked using IsArray & IsRange on all the vectors involved and I don't think I have any inadvertent ranges. Example worksheet showing my issue attached. If anyone can help tell me where I'm going wrong I'd
Hi,"We are aware of an issue attaching Mathcad files to community posts. Please use a ZIP file as a workaround until this issue is resolved."When this issue will be solved? I believe this has been from many months@DJNewman
Just as i thought the problem was solved it went back. I tried resetting my pc and downloading everything from scratch. I have a lenovo with windows 11 home. Everytime i try saving a document a corrupt saving page pops up. i will attach it here. It happens when i use; save as, save or any type of export.I have tried reinstalling several times, also as administrator, and it has the same outcome. When running the program as admin it gives 3 more seconds on the save window but inevitably it crashes again. I made sure i unpacked the download zip-file locally and not using onedrive. Also i placed the app locally. Background info: Im a danish student at Aarhus university. They supply license to mathcad prime 10.0.0.0 and is therefore my only way of downloading the program. I have got a new pc as the old one got destroyed, and now the problem is occuring. I have tried following instructions to solution finding through AI, but it has not lead me to a working solution. I have res
I often struggle to get Mathcad Prime to return symbolic solutions. I suspect I’m missing something in the way I set up or call the symbolic engine, so if anyone can point me to a good tutorial or explanation of best practices, I’d really appreciate it.I’ve attached a worksheet with the equations. My goal is to obtain a single expression for γ as a function of h, α, and β.At the moment I either get red evaluation errors or no result from the solver.Any guidance on what I should change in my setup would be very helpful. Thanks,David
Hi Everyone, I have tried to implement a slider combined with markers to display values from my plot. However, by doing this I get an error for plotting my functions themselves, and I believe it might be because of the units.I have attached a picture and the file itself below.I am using mathcadprime 10.0.1. I hope you can help! Best regards,Adam
I'm trying to determine if five variables are scalars or strings for installation into a unitless matrix for future use. Shown are five separate IF expressions. Is there a single function to condense the five IF statements into?
Hello, I am using mathcad prime Prime 11.0.1.0. Every time I try and print it crashes, even if I cancel the dialogue box. Any one else seen this issue? Thanks
This is an extension of a previous post where I worked on a complex task (for me!) to calculate the soil weight and area behind a wall. referenced post and solution are located inAlgorithm-to-Calculate-Soil-Wedge-Area-Weight-and-Centroid The post was brilliantly solved by @Werner_E . At that time, the wall had a simplified geometry with just one course. Now, I need to apply similar logic to multiple courses, which requires repeating the process for each course.I would appreciate any assistance on how to adapt this logic to handle multiple courses, potentially up to 9 courses.
Hi, it was requested on my company to focus on Mathcad for calculation of new designs. It is a great tool, but how can I replace Excel in a inductor design like the image attached?Where I need/can see the different designs all together to evaluate them. Here we use Mathcad Prime 10.0.1.0. Thank you for the support.
I'm relevely new to Mathcad. and today i run into a weird issue.I have created a plot. and the first trace works as expected. The second one... the data is there but it isn't plot the way as i expected. With symbols on i see the dots. but the line in between isn't plotted, and i don't have a clue why it isn't plotted at all.I have tried to change the circle to also have 3 points what works perfect. The example here defines also data and works also. I tried changing data; plot types; etc, but nothing works.I hope somebody here has an idea
PTC Mathcad Prime 8.0.0.0I have a function that depends on several variables, and I want to compute the partial derivative with respect to each variable and store the results in a matrix. For example, the variables R1,R2,R3,R4,R5,R6,R7, and R8 are known.F(R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8)=R5*R4/(R3+R4) +(R7-R8/2)*R1+R6/R2I would like to create a matrix A_dif such that:A_dif(1)= dF/dR1A_dif(2)= dF/dR2………………..A-dif (8)=dF/dR8Can this be done so we do not need to repeat the operation 8 times.
I am using Mathcad Release 15.0 and DatecodeunknownWe have received an issue reported from Joseph’s end. The Mathcad application is currently not working properly and is not accepting values in the formulas.Could you please look into this issue and guide us on the resolution? If required, you may also schedule a meeting with Joseph to review the issue and provide guidance.
Team, Please see this file. I believe Mathcad gives the wrong answer for the indefinite integral of ((-1)^x)dx. Let me know what you think. Regards,Glen
Hello Everyone. From : To : 1. How to plot a point in 3-D and : 2. Rotation of that point a angle t (say, = Pi/2) about X-axis ?Thanks in advance for your time and help.Regards.
This is a clarified follow-up to a previously solved question. The new objective is to compute the soil wedge area, weight, and centroid (CGx, CGy) behind a retaining wall using the mathematical approach described in the attached Mathcad files, and input data is already explained in the attachment. I am using Mathcad Prime 11. Any help would be appreciated.
I got a new pc with windows 11 home and with an intel core i7 ultra. I installed mathcad prime 10.0.0.0 with the license from my university in denmark. When trying to export or save the document it crashes. I have tried contacting my university IT-support but they say they cant help because they dont work with the program. I have read on forums that updating to the version 10.0.1.0 solves the crashing problem. Unfortunately my university does not supply license to that version. What can i do?
Hi everyone,I’m trying to determine whether Mathcad Prime can symbolically or numerically solve:• a single 3rd-order (cubic) polynomial, • a simple system of four linear equations with four unknowns. Are there built-in functions or recommended workflows for this in Mathcad Prime, Any examples or best practices would be appreciated. Thanks!
Our team kept running into issues and frustrations with converting large quantities of MathCAD Prime calculations into PDFs ready for engineering submittals. Too much time was wasted with monotonous tasks or tools that didn't work right. We built an app that lets you drag and drop 100+ MathCAD Prime calculations and batch-publish them to PDF. You can even choose to get individual PDFs or a single binder at the end with all files combined. We even built in a progress bar with estimated time remaining, an error log for troubleshooting, and, best of all, background processing. This means that instead of losing time while files are being published to PDF, our team can start the process and continue using MathCAD Prime on other calculations. This is a tool that we would have purchased if it existed, but since it didn't, we built it ourselves and figured we'd share it with the community. Link below if anyone's interested. Happy to answer any questions. https://ssellc.gumroad.com/l/mathcad
We're thinking of using MathCAD Prime. One of our key requirements is to be able to programmatically print MathCAD Prime files to PDF (i.e. with no user interaction). I know this is possible with MathCAD 15 (you automate printing to PDF from the commandline with MathCAD 15 by adding the "-p" option after the executable and before the filename), but I cannot see how to do it with MathCAD Prime. I've been looking through the API documentation: https://support.ptc.com/help/mathcad/r7.0/en/index.html#page/PTC_Mathcad_Help%2Fmathcad_and_automation_api.html%23. It says that you can print MathCAD Prime worksheets, but I cannot actually find this documented anywhere. Please could you let me know how to do this, either from the API or from the commandline? Thanks for your help!
Hi everyone If a have a nested matrix like this one below and I want to exclude the first row of each small matrix in the original one How can I do that , when I try (submatrix function) it excludes the first matrix , but I want to exclude the first row of each matrix by the way my ORIGIN =1 I'm expecting the answer to be like (X sub ) in the second picture Thanks Yusra
Hi thereI have a problem with this function . The issue is R is a cumulative value so the R2=R0+R1> R3= R0+R1+R2 and so on... I wanted to implement that in this function but an error ( must be a vector ) shows Is there a way to fix this or to write it differently Thanks The sheet is attached prime 11
Hello, I'm trying to generate a 3D curve from a table or matrix of (X, Y) values along with a vector Z, which contains one value for each (X, Y) pair with Mathcad 11.0.I tried using createmesh, but without success. Do you have any suggestions on how to achieve this? Thank you for your help. Update : Added Excel file to import the matrix.Update : Link to the mathcad file Emilien
Hi,I am having few issue with plotting transfer function:Bode plotHow to make line more obvious in the low frequency area? How to get ride of #4 zone of the plot, it doesn't have anyI cannot plot phase plot, and i don't know why, please.Attached is what i have done.
We often deal with mathcad calculations that are 100 pages or more. These can be unwieldly to navigate and check especially for those that did not develop the mathcad calculations. One thing that could greatly improve the formating of mathcad would be to have the ability to have something like the tabs in an excel sheet. Another way to do this would be to have the ability to have chapters or sections that could be tabbed through. If it was done with chapters or sections, there could be a table of contents page with links to each section. I know that mathcad had the ability to hide calculation regions but this is not nearly as user friendly. This is a wish list item that I think would really improve the user interface for many users.
Hi! I tried to find older discussion related to rainflow counting algorithm and found some but unfortunately they lead me to new problem. I used some program created by Ian Ward and was able to create workbook for my needs. But for some reason it doesn't always work like it should. Problems occur with some initial data and are related to the array index, I believe. Please find two identical calculation sheets attached with different initial data in embedded excel file. The file "Rainflow Cycle Counting A" works fine but the "Rainflow Cycle Counting B" does not. Can someone advice what is the problem, please? And another question, at the end of the calculations I have another embedded excel file to combine the rows in matrix that has identical values in the first column. For example, if I have values 3, 3, 3 in the first column and corresponding values of 2, 4, 6 in the second column, I would like to have them added so that I have row: [3, 12]. And this should be don
