Hi,I am trying to see a laser beam's behaviour but Mathcad doesn't like the characteristic representation of it giving can not evaluate this accurately error.Please see the attachement, thanks.

I am struggling to find where I am going wrong in the attached mathcad sheet. I have a pipeline with an internal fluid of 82.2c and then a thin coating then a 50mm thick aluminium anode is clamped around the pipeline (details on sheet). The sea temp is 5C but I keeep getting the external aluminium surface at the same temp as the sea water.Before there is no hair left on my head where am I going wrong?John

How can you have MathCad split the long expressing into lines at addition/subtration terms so it can be printed properly.An example is attached "I am doing it manually"I still wish to embed MathCad within my post....I tried the Blue A but I guess it works for hyperlinks...I have also tried to embed lines of MathCad using copy paste still does not work!

Hi everyone,I am new to the Mathad world when it comes to the nonlinear solvers for system of equations. I would appreciate any help that I can getI am trying to find partial pressures for an equilibrium equation of state model. I am running into trouble as to how I can get each of the partial pressures as a function of my temperature. I am attaching the Mathcad file so that you can see what I mean. I have doubled check my stuff but I am unsure of how to proceed. It keeps saying that "initial guess must consist of numbers and matrices". How can I get a simple derivative like partially defferentiating F(n,a*x) with respect to x to display aF'(n,a*x)instead of calculating into two branches....in other words how can I tell mathcad in a complicated derivations to just display the derivative (substitute it)Same question (differently)How can I tell Mathcad when using symbolic calcualtions instead of evaluating Bessel and Hankel functions to just show a derivative of the function:For example let's say I'm differentiating Jn(n,K*r) with respect to r the derivative should display Jn'(n,K*r)*K or :\frac{\part Jn}{\part r}(n,K*r) =K*frac{\part Jn}{\part r}(n,K*r). I do not know how Can you include mathcad in here

There is an option to show dual dimensions but I do not remember it. Also there is an sentence that you type into the options box to get a listing of all of the options available in ProE, can you help me with this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,It's been a while since I've browsed these forums but I've run across a problem. I'm working on a project and I need to solve two coupled, second order DE's numerically. I'm pretty sure I have the formulas correct but rkfixed is giving me a problem. Please see attached.

I need some help with using ProE skeletons.We currently use skeletons in the models we create. Consider the following model tree:ASM_XASM_X_SKELASM_B ASM_B_SKELASM_C ASM_C_SKELPART_FASM_YASM_Y_SKELASM_B ASM_B_SKELASM_D ASM_C_SKELPART_GIn the model tree for ASM_X, PART_F is dependent on geometry from the ASM_B_SKEL and the ASM_C_SKEL. What is the best approach, I want to keep the geometry local to the respective assemblies but I need to have visibility of this geometry at the top level. I have 2 options:Extract the geometry from the lower level skeletons and contain in the top level skeleton. This would have the effect of replicating the geometry from ASM_B across the top level assemblies ASM_X and ASM_Y. This would be dangerous in that if you changed the geometry specific to ASM_B in the top level skeleton in ASM_X then this would not be updated in the ASM_Y. Allow PART_F to contain copy geometry from the lower level assemblies i.e. ASM_B and ASM_C (not sure if this would even work!!!!

Experts:I have a customer installing Symantec BackupExec on his Windchill 9.1 Oracle database server. In the configuration, it is not accepting the oracle username/password. He has tried both the system account and Windchill dbUser account, and neither one works. I had him use sqlplus to confirm that he was using the correct password.Which one is he supposed to be using, and does anyone have any tips to get this done? Obviously, I have not done this myself.Also, BackupExec has a checkbox to use a Recovery Catalog. I assume this is something that a dba would set up and that it is not something that gets configured in an out of the box installation.Much appreciation for any feedback,Mark PlimleyPLM Implementor

Hi,Some expressions in my sheet generate floating point errors and I would like to take as many floated decimals it can till it gets to "floating point error", precision will be less for sure but to reach the approximate analytical results I need to get pass this issue. When the floating point error generating expression is in the denominator of the expression this is percieved as a "found a singularity.." error by Mathcad. Also it would be coould if I could just tell Mathcad to exclude points which cause the singularity of the expression.cos(expression) returns floating point errorsin(expression) returns floating point errorbut tanh(expression) doesn't give any error and converges to a result. Does it make sense ?It would do the trick for me if Mathcad performs calculations to the point it returns an error based on the hardware/architecture.I can sacrifice some precision that will not be a problem.Thanks

Hi all,There occured a problem in my work and I traced back the error, because of the dependencies it was hard to spot but once done, it seems like a really simple problem but can not explain why. Hopefully experienced users can help me get over this.Have a nice day

Hi,Has anyone using mathcad 15 experience problem displacing 3D graphs. I installed mathcad 15 on my desktop pc with ATI HD 5570 graphic card. 3D graphs do not display at all, just blank. I have a friend, who has mathcad 15 installed on a pc desktop with intel graphic accelerator, has no problem with displaying 3D graphs. For 2D graphs, the software displays perfectly fine on my machine, but not 3D ones. I wonder what is happening. I have tried upgrading my graphic driver to the latest version, but to no avail. Anyone out there experience the same problem with ati graphic card when using mathcad 15.

I'm writing a program that needs to perform operations on a variable number of equations which will be named g1(X), g2(X),....,gm(X) . I tried to use a for loop to cycle through the functions, but mathcad ends up looking for a function called gi(X), which doesn't exist. Is there any work around for this. See the attached file for the relevant chunk of the code. Thanks

The application I'm using on Mathcad15, well used by others with none of the problems I'm about to describe, won't display any of its 3D scatter plots on my PC. The plot area basically shows white. But if I drag the cursor around the plot area or use the scroll wheel, occasionally an image flashes up momentarily, and disappears too quickly even for recognition. But I suspect I see bits of the expected image.Has anybody encountered this problem? Has anybody got any ideas how to fix it?My PC is a Dell XPS M1330 laptop running under Windows 7. The graphics adapter is a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family. But my problems seem to be confined to Mathcad.Thanking you in anticipation.RegardsGraham Parkhouse

Hi,I need to query Arbortext Editor (here: 5.4 MR020) for a list of all open files. Has anyone done this before and can tell me how this can be done?I already tried to use getDocuments of the Application object (which always returns 4 documents of whom only one is an opened file or stylesheet, regardless how many documents are currently open) and getNextSibling/getPreviousSibling on the result of the getActiveWindow method of the Application object (which returns no siblings at all).*Thanks in advance and best regards,Mathias Harbeck*: I use a COM2Java-Bridge, so the actual methods, properties etc. of the COM interface might be slightly different.

Hi All,Since i installed M15, my desktop keeps refreshing it self automatically, every 2 - 3 minutes. I uninstalled the M15 and the problem disappeared, but as soon i installed M15 again problem came back and my desktop keeps refreshing exactly as when you right click on the mouse and press refresh.It is very annoying and looking forward to hear a solution about it Thanks Alan
