One interesting need that comes up for multiple reasons is the need to break out Family Table Instances into standalone Models. There are many reasons for why you want to do this - sometimes it is to avoid Family Tables being shared with vendors/customers (basically a catalog of what you make/buy/use), other times is to avoid complex relationships and dependencies (I don’t need 4,000 bolts available tagging along with an assembly when only 5 are in it). There are many other reasons why customers want to break these out - but the biggest one is sharing without sharing too much - standalone models are just easier to deal with for user, PDM, and PLM in the end. But Family Tables have a purpose for sure - they are great for managing the library masters; exporting the individual models is often a need for more accountability and streamlined version control. The ZIP archive contains Notepad++ UDL files for config.pro and drawing setup (dtl) options. I've created them for following CAD versions: WF4 (= Pro/E Wildfire 4) CEP5 (= Creo Elements/Pro 5, formerly Pro/E Wildfire 5) CP2 (= Creo Parametric 2) CP3 (= Creo Parametric 3) CP4 (= Creo Parametric 4) Basis for the options were the lists of Olaf Corten (thanks for them) http://proesite.com/UTIL/view_config.html and http://proesite.com/UTIL/view_setup.html. General config.pro options get shown dark blue and bold. Hidden config.pro options get shown in a lighter blue, bold and italic. Comments get shown brown and can be folded, if they consist of several lines. Drawing setup (dtl) options alse get shown dark blue and bold. To add a UDL file to Notepad++, choose "Language" and then "Define your language" in the menu. GDT Advisor currently only supports traditional hole types.Our team uses Helicoils and Keenserts often, and including them as options in GDT Advisor would be very helpful. These holes require different notations, are there plans to include them soon?
There have been many requests for how to quickly Batch Export DXF, DWG, PDF, and STEP files out of Creo Parametric. This is a common problem we all struggle - it is the boring stuff we do (a grind to setup and execute properly). We have just released some Excel Workbooks that you can download and use with Nitro-CELL (FREE or Purchased License Users) to help automate the batch exports of these formats. We have developed a Python application to automate the export of DRW drawings into various output formats while applying specific file naming conventions.However, we are experiencing significant delays when our application requests Creo to access DRW files. For example, opening a relatively small drawing can sometimes take several minutes. We do not observe these delays when opening the same file directly in Creo.For reference, Creoson, our Python application, and all Creo files are hosted on an internal company server. We are trying to determine the source of these delays. I have a subordinate UDF that creates a set of features including an extrusion. One of the extrusion dimensions is set as a variable dimension in the UDF and has a prompt assigned. When the UDF is inserted, user is not prompted for the dimension. instead, the existing value is used.

Hi, I am trying to create a shock model with spring and damping parameter which include compression damping and rebound damping. as Creo allows us one damping i tried by give the user defined force as damping with domine condition, but still i couldn’t find a proper way to execute it on user defind force reference point and measure parameter creation referencecan any one help me in this asap.
As shown in the image below, I have defined a pipe spec that has a particular color assigned to it (in this case, green). This spec is shown to be this way in the associated Pipe Spec Directory file as well. However, despite all of this, the pipe keeps showing up as blue! I’ve updated the pipe model and regenerated the assembly but nothing seems to work. What might be causing this issue?
Hi,Would anyone know how to prevent Creo 10 from creating cap surfaces for tapped holes while using the Creo Parametric Hole feature?The surface shown in the image below is not the side wall of the thread but a cap surface at the top of the thread. This makes you have to query select the hole which is an extra step when assembling parts to the tapped hole at the top-level assembly.Thanks for any help you can provide,Don A

Hi everyone,We've recently started using Creo 13 and noticed something about the AI assistant feature. In the demos and presentations, the AI assistant provides really impressive answers — but when we try it ourselves, it doesn't seem to generate any responses, and it doesn't appear to be running as a beta version either.Do we need to do something specific to enable the beta version, or is it simply not available yet and we need to wait?We have customers who are expecting this feature based on what they've seen in the demos, so we want to make sure we're not delivering an incomplete solution. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Running up against what might be a bug in the VB API when using Excel.This is simply trying to get the PTC-provided example listSubAssemblyComponent to function in Excel VBA rather than its original VB. I intended to make this the basis of code to extract the model tree into an Excel spreadsheet for internal engineering management purposes - old way we do this is to save the model tree from Creo, and import it into a spreadsheet via VBA macros, but I want a more streamlined way to do it. (This ain't necessarily it, and I'm open to better alternatives.)It appears to allocate something to currentPath (typing ?currentPath is Nothing in the immediate window returns false). Hello there, In the past, I had some trouble keeping eye on the syntax for some of config files for Creo. There are so many different config files, and each use their own syntax, and if you miss just one char Creo won’t load it. It was especially tiresome for me when I wanted to add IFX fasteners to the library with custom parameters and such.For a long time I had an idea to make a little software that can handle all the config options for Creo. I’ll be honest here, I’m not and expert programmer, I just know enough that I know my limits, so it is clearly made with AI. But a tool is just a tool for me, and I’ll be using it for my self, and if anyone interested, I’m open to sharing it for free.If you are interested what functions would you like to see in it? Would you be open to test it with me?
I am using Creo Parametric Release 11.0 and Datecode11.0.4.0 Imported incremental IDX files (sent to Creo from Allegro PCB editor) remove the rounds/fillets around my board and any cutouts that I had previously. We need to accept the change to the board because the board thickness is changed, but this also forces us to accept the removed fillets and cutout. How do we fix this?

I am using Creo Parametric 11.0.1.1 and facing an issue with dimensions created from assembly references.While creating a new part within an assembly, I use geometry from an existing housing as an external reference. I then create an offset from that referenced geometry to define the new part. The resulting geometry is created as a composite curve.When I create a radius dimension on an arc of this referenced composite curve, Creo creates it as a known dimension with the kd# prefix. This dimension cannot be retrieved in the drawing using Show Model Annotations.I tried changing the following configuration option:sketcher_known_dim_on_ref_ent noHowever, Creo does not retain the value as no. How do I change the default units from inches to millimeters in Creo Parametric 10?
I have a model that i am trying to create drawing from using a template. I am running it through Sigmxim’s Smart assembly to do a bunch of things. This program has worked plenty of times before this but in the last 3-4 weeks in locks up and the only thing that i can find is that the xtop.exe doesn’t want to work anymore. But when i run the same model though other Smart assembly programs it creates the drawings that those programs as supposed to do. I think i t has to do with trying to recall data from a excel file and fill in a table with that data but i am unsure. I have let Creo sit for 2 hours waiting for it to kick in but it never does. (sometimes if you wait it works again even though it says not responding). i’ve created other models and have had other people try and create the drawings as well though the Smart assembly function but they get the same results I do, It just permamently hangs up.
Hello,With my current employer there is some “masking” at times of our internal part numbers.This is because certain customers may require our part number be translated to match their numbering system.The issue is that we are expected to maintain universal/internal part numbers for our assemblies but then at times provide a customer the same assembly and drawing using only the customer’s part numbers.I am aware it is possible to have Table Formats for each customer having a column declaring the respective customer’s number from the properties of the item, but I hope that there is some way to maintain a single drawing and assembly for translation of the assembly and BoM to reflect a customer’s numbering system dynamically.This will remove possibility of duplicate items and entropy with that scenario.I assume it would be best for a BoM to be adjusted outside of Creo systems, but then the assemblies themselves they would not properly identify themselves via customer part numbering.Is ther
