Hello,My question is this.  How do I take parts or assemblies of parts and place them on a layer I choose.The reason I need to do this is my job requires me to illustrate certain components from larger models and I'd like to be able to only see the parts I want to see instead of everything.  I have been given Creo Parametric 2.0 to do this with.  My counterparts use Creo View MCAD and they have told me they can selectively select certain components of an assembly and isolate them using and "Isolate" button.  Or another way they do this is when they select the components they want, they can 'save selected' into a pvz file which is then brought into isodraw for illustrating.  When I select the components I want and save a pvz file, it won't save just the selected components but the entire model which will make to much work in Isodraw to remove.  I was told that Creo Parametric 2.0 would be able to do everything Creo View could and more so I was supplied with

Is there any place that has a full list of config.pro options for Creo 3.0 M090 specifically? What about a config checking utility? I have been testing a system with PDMLink 11.0 M010, and I applied CPS4 awhile ago because I had read the FAQ about CPS which states "Customers are strongly encouraged to schedule regular CPS updates...".  Applying CPS4 has left me unable to update to 11.0 M020.While attempting to update to M020, I finally found the installer log file in the system %TEMP% folder, and the installer log notes that only M010 installations up to CPS3 are compatible for update to M020.  Surely, this must be a mistake, I thought.  Oh, no, it's not.I went and downloaded the latest Supported Upgrade Paths document from 11/29/2016, and sure enough, M010 CPS4 and CPS5 are not supported for update to M020.  Furthermore, I see that there are A LOT of dead ends in the supported upgrade paths.  If you've been patching a 10.2 M030 system with the latest CPS, you're probably in trouble without an old backup to which you can revert.The Release Notes for the CPS and the Update Existing Installat

Hi folks,I have a question about using mapkeys - in different creo languages.Problem: I create mapkey in Creo (German version) - with the mapkey, I need to select old drop down menu (all expresion are in the German), but if I open the mapkey - system wrote everything in the original English version.For example: #SHOW;#ERASE;Result: I can not use this mapkey, because system looking for English expresion >> no German.Can you help me with configuration option for this problem?Thanks,Vladimir

Hello, i was wondering if anyone could explain Optimize Surface, a new feature inside Boundary Blend. See the attached model. I make surfaces such as these all the time & recently switched to Creo 3, saw this new feature, but from what i can see, it far from optimizes my surface, it destroys it. If you take my model, edit definition the boundary blend surface & uncheck the optimize surface, regenerate the model & look at the difference. I have searched for information on this topic & came up with very little, any help here would be appreciated.I did through trial & error, come up with some very nice surfaces using this model. I made the initial surface as two, revolving the top, & making the lower part a boundary blend. Hi everyone,I do not often use symbolic calculation, and I have already tried the keyword "explicit" but I don't seem to get it right.How can I obtain a symbolic result without the numerical substitution of a variable?I have attached a practical example (a stripped version of a worksheet where I am trying to use the Rayleigh Distribution to compute the fatigue cumulative usage factors caused by a random narrow-band Gaussian vibration on a part, given the rms stress and the number of cycles). But the question is general. Mathcad substitutes the values of the variables he knows.  Sometimes it is not desirable.  How do I reach this?Thanks for every hintBest regardsClaudio

Hey there WC gurus, I've worked in different CAD/CAM packages before that would allow multiple sessions to run without tying up additional licenses. This would allow you to be working on multiple projects at a time. Especially when loading a model, updating or saving takes a while, it's nice to be able to work on a lower end project like updating some hardware or adding some finishing touches.If there is a way to allow this in CREO 2.0, this would be great.We use network floating licenses here.I know that if I check out a license, I can run multiple sessions as long as I'm not connected to the network. If your company has set up Windchill with WTParts and publishes EPMDocuments both on Checkin and during the Release workflow this behaviour may lead to incorrect data to be Released. I will present two use cases that describe the problem. While the first is easiest to reproduce it leads to no critical errors but could still be seen as incorrect behaviour. The other causes non-latest data to be released.TL;DR: The published representation of an EPMDoc when its WTPart has been iterated past latest "built" configuration is copied to non-latest WTPart. PTC states this is "working according to spec". We are using part configurations and part instances to track serial numbers of high value items in our assemblies.  I would like to have an attribute on the instances for some general notes.  Currently this is a global attribute which I have added to the 'Part Instance' type, it is added to the edit layout, the visibility is set to read/edit, and the policy administration gives the 'modify' permission to users.  It correctly shows the attribute on the item information page.  However, there is no edit option on the action dropdown box on the part instance.  There is no checkout/checkin for these type of objects either.  How can I enable a user to be able to edit an attribute?  Attached is a screenshot of the attribute setup and layout for this type.

I am sure that this is a shot in the dark but does anyone else still ever use Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0? If so, is you copy still working? I have a colleague who uses Wildfire 2.0 occasionally for compatibility with old Pro/INTRALINK databases but it seems to no longer work. I have tried running on 3 different workstations but with no luck. Dear Windchill Users,We are planning to upgrade from Windchill8.0M030 to mostly 11.0 but before that facing the following error in new Windchill document creation.New Document creation error:For new active products as well as for products for which new document creation was working in the past, currently the new document creation is not working (New WTPart creation and checkin is working fine)Create a new WTDocument in the PDMLink folders using the following menu and upload a plain text document.ERROR:There is no trace in the Method Server log after this error (log attached) This was working in the past. Hi Fellow Windchill+CAD users,Have created a new product (as per our business processes) and workspace for it and also have created and configured vaults and vaulting rules for it (Details attached)For upload of a new ProEngineer CAD part (without any geometry) on a client machine getting the following error: "A problem on the server prevented upload. Please contact your system administrator."Attempted the same thing on the Windchill server(which has ProE) and getting the following error: "Upload of Pro/Engineer model files failed. Please check the designated upload cache folder is correctly configured."Attached is a pdf document for the steps taken to debug this issue both on the client and server end including vaulting configurations. I've been using Creo for months. It just suddenly began to act up today. Every time I try to log in, I receive this error message:I don't understand why I need a license, I'm using the student version. What does this mean and how do I get this to stop?
