Does anyone know how to do an interference check that discards surface geometry? My checks always have lots of irrelevant information in them about construction surfaces. It would also be great if I could check interference between specific parts within an assembly rather than the whole assembly at once.Anyone got any ideas? When we open a topic in our ditamap the file pops open almost immediately, but then the we get a not responding and after about a minute of waiting the resource manager pops up and now you can do something. Is this normal, issue with style sheet?, issue with program? If you go to the ditamap and open a another topic, it renders the complete program useless for another minute or so while it opens the other topic. Is this how it is supposed to be? Also when you are adding a content reference does it more that a minute to generate the list. My desktop system is not bad (E5620 @ 2.4 with 20gb ram) 64 bit operating system. We are running 6.0 m40, our style sheet development started in 5.4 then we upgraded to 6 and the style sheet followed in development.Any comments would be appreciated.Bryon

Hello,I got some stl files from the software guys at my company. When I tried to open them in Creo they would not display in the file open window, even when I selected all files. I have been told that Creo will only display files it can open, which in my opinion is silly. When you select all files you should actually get to see all the files. Anyway, I then used blender to open the .stl and it works fine. I exported it with blender as a new .stl with a different name and tried to use Creo to open that file. This time it does show it as an .stl file but when I open it I get the message 'Could not read STL file.' I tried exporting it as ascii as well, but no change.Anyone have any ideas? The .stl format is pretty standardized I can not understand why a free program like blender can open the file and my powerful ProE program can't. Attached is one of the stl files. I have a path set up in the default "config.pro" for my users to get them to the correct folder, and I have the approved formats loaded there, but people still have access to the default formats, and in fact in creo it's the default set of formats that come up first. I do not want this. What I have done for WF4 is put a format in the folder with the name: "1_DO_NOT_USE_THESE_FORMATS.frm.1" which ends up at the top to warn the newer users not to use these. For WF4 it does not automatically get to the correct formats, but at least I can see the "warning" format file. For creo, I can't seem to find the location of the standard formats used by creo to add this "warning" format. I've searched the loadpoint directory (in our case - W:\), and can't find these formats anywhere.Now, I know there was some glitch that no matter what you set as the path, it didn't directly put you there, but why can I see the "warning" file in WF4 and not creo? I'm trying to create a report similar to the ootb Multi-Level BOM report on the Product Structure page of a part in Windchill 9.1 M060. We are using Cognos as the Windchill Business Reporting tool. I've copied the Multi-Level BOM report (and sub reports) in Cognos and have tried to hook it up to the product structure page of my WTPart object. The report seems to be firing, but the parameters (like the part oid) doesn't seem to be passing properly. I've tried to emulate all of the parts in Windchill that the BOM report is using, but something seems to be missing. Anybody know what is happening?

I'm looking to make a simple comparison between an allowable stress:Fb:= 1200 psiand an actual stress:fb = 900 psiI would like mathcad to compare fb to Fb and return "fb<Fb OK".This is extremely simple in excel, but seems difficult in Mathcad Prime 2.0. I'm sure there's a simple way to do it, but I can't find the soloution.Any help from a pro would be greatly appreciated.Mark

Hello,I created a part with a number of patterns of tapped holes. When I made a drawing, the pattern instances showed up as I expected, but the pattern leader had no sign of a cosmetic thread. So, I have tapped holes that look good, but I can't show their dimensions, and a tapped hole that doesn't look tapped, but which has all the dimensions I could ever wish for. I have one Pro E that has decided to "Break" itself this morning.Whenever you launch Pro E it will now have No Server selected in Server Manager. It has always had our Product Point Server selected at startup before. Every other machine works just fine and nothing has chnaged on this PC in a while.We are currently on Wildfire 5 M080 if anyone has some insight in to what might have happened. I'm having a problem getting a correct answer in MathCad Prime 2.0. I'm running a simple algerbra formula in which the answer should be 3.31, but MathCad keeps giving me 0.00. Is there some setting to force the program to give me the correct answer? Thanks.

I am adding components to the generic assembly, but they do not get added to the instances. If i add them to the instance then they are added to the generic, but as supressed components. This used to be the other way around in previous releases. Has somethign changed? Hi,I've installed windchill 10.1 M010. It works great except that when users enter a part number to search in the upper right search box, it never finds anything. They have to do an advanced search and then enter a part number search by name or number. is there a way to make it so the default search box searches by name or part number instead of keyword? we only have cad documents in there.

Dear all,I use frequently mathcad for data analysis. The data are stored in a specific, known folder. The data are generated from another application and the filenames change, depending on the acquisition conditions. I need to check by hand the filenames and then put them in an array, which mathcad uses to read the data.Can someone tell me how to get from within mathcad the filenames of all files in a specific folder and generate an array comprising these filenamesThank you

I just wanted to start a discussion to keep the forum talking. But anyway I have been using pro nc for a couple of years now I think it was wildfire 3 when I started. I used to use mastercam before my company switched to pro e. I was just wondering what some of the other users that have used other software thought pro nc matched up to them. I have been to some tool shows and talked to other cam vendors when they ask you what your running and I tell them pro nc there like I am sorry to here that. But I have watched some demo's from competitors and it all seems sugar coated. I will ask them if I can try and run the software and they will not let you.

hello everyoneSometimes when programming i insert a programme stop during an operation so i could remove clamps etc, thing is in the nc code i want to insert a note saying the reason why ive stopped the programme to help the operator (remove clamps). Do i have to manually insert the note in the nc code or is there a way the note is inserted when posting the programme, where woul i write the text.Would like it so that everytime the programme is posted the note would always be there. hope ive explained it ok. I am trying to solve an ODE. I followed the example using ODEsolve. I get "too many initial conditions", but if I delete an initial conditon, I get "variable not defined".I am either making a rookie mistake, or my equation can't be solved this way (it is somewhat ugly). Possibly both. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HiI run a 4 axis mill wich the fourth axis is an A axis- revolving around the x axis. I want to use the drill and roughing sequences but do not succeed. In some of te sequences i can choose either 3,4 or 5 axis. but not the ones i've mentioned above. Is there anyone who have experience with these? I have more than one operation in my manufacturing file with more than one coordinate system(top and bottom of a part). when I go to put sequences in my second operation with a different coordinate system it always reverts back to the first operation coordinate system and retract plane even if I select the correct coordinate system and retract when I set the sequence up. this is very irritating!!! has anyone else had this problem? I'm absolutely convinced that, way back, I used to be able to zoom into my drawing to select (say) a balloon; start dragging it with the LMB; then, without releasing it, pan the drawing with the MMB to drag the balloon to a position on the far side of the drawing.   Since moving to an XP64 workstation (I think that was the cut-off), some time ago now, this doesn't work.   Does anyone else remember being able to do this? Can anyone still do it on their current system?   The PTC helpdesk operative says he's tried it using WF4 and XP32 and it doesn't work there either.     Incidentally, does anyone else experience the glitch whereby you hover your pointer over a drawing entity so that you get the 'move' or 'resize' cursor, then you click and drag - and it doesn't do what the cursor said it would?     WF4 M160; XP Pro 64bit SP2; standard "HID-compliant" mouse driver.   Thanks!This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Hello,New to MC15 but getting along with the help of Google and this forum.One question that I have yet to answer and would appreciate some basic help:I want to be able to change a variable value via text box. However a text box formats entries as a string. I have researched it pretty extensively but with no joy.Can anyone tell me how to easily get a text box to output a numeric value and not a string? Hello allI have made a new tab in ProE (WF5m130) called "Mapkeys" for all ProE usersin Part and Assy mode everybody cand find Mapkeys related to PRT and ASM (e.g. update the restricted value list)in Drawing mode everybody cand find Mapkeys related to DRW (e.g. Print in A3, add a note from a library)to be sure that everybody have the same version of config.win we start ProE with a .bat file, where I remove the old one and replace by the new one.My problem is, as soon as I want to add a new mapkey ProE automatically create a config.win.1 or config.win.2 with only the update. not the complete configuration.So if I want to have all mapkeys available I have to read several config.win, but my .bat file doesn't support the extention .win.1,win.2!event if I save the settings as a unique config.win it is not completeIf I want evrything, I have to recreate from scratch this menu in both modes!Is someone have a solution for this problem please?ThanksThis thread is inactive and closed by the PTC C

I have BOM's that are automatically generated within drawings. There are times when I'll open a drawing and one of the rows are blank. This is very baffling.I thought we had fixed this with verifying the instances in the table.I have a drawing that shows instance 9504-01<9500> in the model tree, but the BOM has the parameters from 9500 generic part. (See BOM_INST.jpg)I checked to make sure that the instances of the part had been verified. (See BOM_INST2.jpg)I regenerated the drawing and now instance 9504-01 <9500> shown in the model tree also is shown as 9504 in the BOM (See BOM_INST3).What else could possibly be going on with the drawings/parts? According to ya'll, I am working in "Wild West" mode.I just opened a model/drawing that I was working on this morning. Saved it when I was done with it with the proper BOM. Now this afternoon, when the boss wants a small change, P/N 7793 is missing from the BOM (when you compare the first picture to the second).I opened P/N 7793 - its part of a family table. I check to see if all of the instances have been verified, and they have (see the third drawing). (It is instance #2 by the way.)When I check the parameters on P/N 7793, they are all there. (See the fourth drawing).Is there anything else that you can see that is going wrong? I have a worksheet right now that defines a function (concentration) as a function of x and y - call it "Cg(x,y)" I am looking to plot contours of constant concentration in the xy-plane, that is to say, set Cg = 0.8, 0.6, etc. and plot the resulting contours on a x-y graph.I am new to the community and a beginner, for the most part, to Mathcad, so I really don't know even where to start. It is not a function that could be solved symbolically, therefore I think it might have to be plotted as a series of sequential points. If anyone can help tell me how to create such contour plots, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
