In my workstation, file --> open, opens the working directory which i've preselected whereas in my pc i've noticed that file --> open opens the last opened directory. how can this be controlled???

Does anyone know how to collapse all file references quickly when using a document containing a bunch of xincludes to reference other docs, but allow the file name to display?Normally I use entities, but AE 6.0M060 crashes when the parent document is open and a child is edited. Later iterations of 6.0 have the same problem. Work around is using xincludes but all children are expanded when the parent is opened, making a really long document to scroll through.

When I close the worksheet I can not save a listbox selection that is dependent on a previous listbox selection. The first listbox I was able to save the selection using the Metadata , but I could not figure out how to get it to work with the second list box.

I am looking for advice from the Windchill expert community on how you interrogate log files. For instance, I would like to take a log file, search for the string 'error ' in the content, and then eliminate lines which contain a pattern for unimportant strings. This should parse the log so that it only contains the lines of information which may contain notable errors. I currently only have Windows 7 text editors in my toolbox. I am looking for the following type of advice.1 - What is your method for interrogating logs to find relevant 'errors'?2 - Is it possible to create macros in Microsoft word to filter out unimportant lines?3 - Are there other text editors I should be considering which might make the task of interrogating logs easier (preferably free)?Thanks!Ken Morrison

Is it possible to assign new roles in the Windchill project? For example, I accidentally added students with a "mentor" role, or when a student graduates and should be moved from "team member" to "alumni"? According to PTCs document comparing the different versions of Creo View, in Creo View Express you should be able to "Display Combination or View States from Creo Parametric" but I cannot figure out how to view them once in Creo View. Any suggestions on how you would do this would be appreciated.Thanks

Is there a way to extrude a feature up to a surface created by two planes? I created a surface which looks like a V in the top plane, and then tried to extrude up to this surface, but it will only extrude up to one of the planes. I would like to complete the extrude using only 1 extrude, not come back and trim or do aother extruded cut. See attached file for what I was able to do. Hi.   There is something interesting that I found working with Search Tool and I have no idea why Creo works in this mysterious ways. If I Look for/Look by: Feature > Attributes > Name and I enter Value: Extrude 1 (or Extrude, Ext*, E* , etc.), the Search Tool finds nothing. Extrude 1 is default name, given by Creo.   But if I Rename a Feature in something like MAIN_EXTRUDE, and I Search again by Name it will find it. This is true for all Features.   So why this strange behaviour from Creo. I have modeled a PCBA mockup assembly in Creo using available STEP models of needed components, and exported it as a STEP assembly for import into Altium. It displays perfectly in Altium, but once changes have been made to component location (or even if no changes are made) and the PCB designer exports the modified assembly out of Altium as a STEP file, when I bring that file into Creo, many component surfaces are missing, and rounds and fillets have become toroids. See screen captures below...PCBA mockup in Creo:Same PCBA model, after exported as STEP file, uploaded to Altium, exported as a STEP file, and re-imported into Creo:I've tried different possible STEP file creation settings in Creo and Altium to seeif this gets resolved, and nothing helps.Has anyone experienced similar issues with Altium, or cuorrupted imported STEP files in general? I have a part model that includes an External Merge.I need to Replace one of the parts that gets merged.There is no option for "Replace" in the tree so I choose "Edit Definition".The merged part shows up top in a selection box "as shown".On 1st look there is no option to replace out the model. However if I right click in the selection box I get the "Replace" option which I click. I would think this would allow me to open up the file just to the right of the selection box, but it does not allow it to open so I could pick a part as the replacement. Instead I see the following warning dialog at the bottom of my screen.Presently I am deleting the External Merge and reinserting the newly revised model file. I always have lots of fun with family tables ( ). I have any assembly cut of a tube that has holes stamped in the tube. There are two standard lengths of tube with two different numbers of holes (hence the family table).Now I am performing a cut on one end of the tube. I have offset a plate (Bottom) from a plane on the assembly (Top). I am then using this plane to set up a cut to remove material from the assembly. The problem I am experiencing is that the cut dosn't always happen and I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why. The assembly cut is made on the generic of the family table. One instance comes out correctly (first picture).The second instance does not.I have tried several different cuts - using the front, right or bottom plane for the primary plane of the cut. Hi Guys,currently I´m trying to understand the database schema behind Windchill PDMLink.My aim is to get all parts of an assembly, with all the attached information.Now I have looked over some tables and foudn the links beetween them. But now I´m stuck!How can I link the information from the EPMDocument (EPMDocumentMaster, ...) with the WTPart (WTPartMaster, ...) tables? WTPartMasterKey and EPMDocumentMasterKey both have the field WTKey, but the have different contents.I´m using Windchill PDMLink 9.1.Thanks in advance!Ben
